Hello to all,

Age: 62; PSA 3 or so for the past several years,
On 5/04 jump in PSA to 12
Prostrate cancer diagnosed with a Gleason score 4+3=7
Cryo surgery 8/04 with a post 4 month PSA of 0.7
Dynamic testing 12/04 - levels 3-4 times normal
Cystoscopy, dilation, TUR of prostrate 12/04
PSA test 2/05 PSA 1.08, an increase due to self catheterization?
Cystoscopy, dilation, TUR of prostrate 3/05
Cystoscopy, dilation and reinstall catheter 5/1/05 to present.

I am having a problem with post cryo surgery voiding problems caused by scar
tissue. After several TURP and Emergency Room visits my doctor would have
liked to install a biodegradable stent which he said has been approved in
Europe. His second choice would have been a temporary removable prostatactic
stent. Both have not been approved for use by the FDA in the USA. His only
approved choice is a permanent stent that has been approved by the FDA.

I am concerned about the possibility of long term in-continence with the
permanent stent.  Do you know if a biodegradable stent or a temporary
removable prostatactic stent are available and in use in Canada? Who would
one contact?

Thanks,

Frank

Frank,

You are one of at least two persons here reporting failed (or in your case
possibly failed) cryoscopy.  I would, were I you, find another urologist
and/or oncologist and start over.

You are still in a safe zone, it would seem, but you don't want to let it
get out of hand.
