Thanks J.......I appreciate the info.  I really must sign up for
notifications or join a forum for Firefox.....

MS sent out a warning yesterday as well.  Must fire up IE and see what I
need.

Cheers....Heather

I followed the instructions on the Firefox.  The only allowed site was the
Mozilla Update site.  I clicked the "Remove All Sites" button, and of course
I lost the Update site.  Rereading the instructions, I think I should not
have done that.  Did I make a mistake by doing this?  If I have made a
mistake here, how do I get the Update site back?  Sorry to be so dense, but
the terminology sometimes throws me.  Thanks for your advice on this.

Hello Claude,
I don't use Firefox, I use Mozilla.  I don't know where the update site is
unless you mean below.
I watch this page http://www.mozilla.org/security/
It says there something about "forthcoming security update".
I'm sorry. If that doesn't answer your question, perhaps Heather would help?
Perhaps we have to wait for them to write and test their update first?

I've got a problem of my own. If I follow their instructions and turn off Java,
I cannot acess my Yahoo email accounts.
It says to enable trustworthy sites in the settings and I can'f find where, so I
turned my Java back on. Or turn it on for specific sites, then turn it back off.

Don't do it - you're more at risk, is my understanding.
J - confused

You are not the only one who is confused, grin!!  I am kind of winging it
alone with Firefox coz I really don't know all that many that are both using
it and are knowledgeable on it.......other than one fellow.  I will write
him tonight and get his opinions.  I did turn off the first one on webpages
and just checked it and see that two Firefox pages are now in there.  So I
wouldn't worry about it.  And Claude's instructions were good.

As for java script, I don't ever turn that off.  So left that one alone.

BTW......just checked a lot of Firefox pages and Version 1.0.4 just came out
May 11th....today/yesterday.  The last time a new one came out, it just
appeared in my Taskbar and I stupidly let it download.  Nowhere does it say
on their website if you are to REMOVE the previous version or not.....and
after I compared the two versions, they seemed to be the same size, so I
removed the old one.

Claude.....any comments on installing what they call *their updates*??  They
seem to be the whole program.

Thanks.....Heather (and I will write Tom and ask him about anything you need
to know....he is a whiz at Mozilla stuff)

Oh gosh yes.
Do we uninstall first?
Are there files; prefs, tweaks that we backup elsewhere, so that we don't have
to redo everything again.
A guy had me type about:config in the url and add a line about popups in there.
I don't want to keep redoing these things. Is there a file for that? (to be
backed up)

(I save my bookmarks elsewhere first) but there must be other files that we have
to backup first.
I can't find an "update" function. Just as well. I check their webpage usually.
Will watch for any info there and here.
Thanks Heather.

Hi J.......

Well....I took the advice and opened Version 1.04 over top of 1.03 and it
worked just fine!!!

This way we keep our extensions and settings in place.  I joined up on the
MozillaZine Forum and they are extremely helpful with all sorts of stuff.

Saw a mention of a small problem re the *about.config* wherein the guy
wanted to remove something.....easy as all get out.

I must ask them a minor one about bookmarks, but will do that later.  So go
ahead and lay 1.04 over 1.03 and you will have no problems.....most replies
suggested that.

Something I do with ALL downloads or updates is I download them all into one
folder UNopened.  That way if I find something doesn't work well with WinME,
I have the previous version, etc. to go back to.  Just go into
Tools/Options/Downloads and select whatever folder you want to put the stuff
in.

It has been a lifesaver to have progs to go back to, or burn to CD for other
computers.  I make up floppies and CD's with antivirus and antispyware stuff
to take with me when someone opens Britney's Tits, like David S, grin.  My
neighbour probably has had the highest count.....7 trojans and 130 pieces of
spyware.....that was after I got the virus off his XP.  I have now
threatened to break his fingers if he ever turns off his firewall again!!!!

Cheers.....Heather, aka Auntie Virus

Same here.  Do you think that corrects the security flaw, and I can  turn on
the Java Script again?

Yes, it does.......so enable it.  I checked the Firefox Security Site and it
said that version 1.04 corrects the two security flaws.  See link below.....

The update site is       update.mozilla.org

To add it back just use the same procedure you used to remove the site

#  Select the "Options" dialog from the "Tools" menu
# Select the "Web Features" icon
# Click the "Allowed Sites" button on the same line as the "Allow web
sites to install software" checkbox
# Type in update.mozilla.org in the address of web site address field
# Click the "Allow" button
# Click "OK"

Thank you, Rob.  Even I can follow those directions.
