I had the seeding this morning.   The first time I urinated there was some
blood.  There are small amounts of blood coming from the area where the
needles were inserted.  They gave me a prescription for pain but I see no
need to have it filled.  Can't say there is no pain,  but it doesn't bother
me that much.  Will see how I feel tomorrow.  BTW, they used 62 seeds.

Glad it's all over with Jimmie.  Hopefully you're on the
road to a cure.

I had some bits of blood in the urine for several days
after my HDR seedings, and had blood in the semen for
much longer.  But everything eventually cleared up with
no special problems and no need for any treatment.

I also had no real pain, but the perineum (part between
the anus and testicles) where they inserted the needles
was a bit bloody and sore.  Ice packs were helpful.

And hold off on the Tour de France practice for a few days.

Sounds normal. Remember, if it gets hard to unrinate sit the bathtub..... I
spent many a time there, even at 3:00 am, lol

I am voiding my bladder but it just sort of dribbles out.  That's ok, take a
book with me.

Sounds like you're doing real good, Jimmie.

It took me about 6 hours to get pee'ing normal.  I was taking
Decadron, Flomax, and Pyridium but nothing for pain.

The Pyridium was to reduce stinging while pee'ing.  It dyes the
urine orange. I took it for a few days.

The Decadron reduces internal swelling that might pinch off the
flow.  It's addictive so they only gave me pills for a couple weeks.
The protocol was hit the Decadron hard the first few days then
quickly taper off and replace it with Aleve, which also reduces
swelling.

I took it easy for a few days but honestly could have gone to work
the next day.

I'm sure the Uro cautioned you about blood clots in your urine and
told you that if you can't pee, to head for the emergency room.  I
didn't have any problems with that but they said that 10 % or so
might have to catheterized.

I doubt that you will have that problem.  My guess is that there are
two causes, they might accidently puncture your bladder with some
seed needles.  I think this is rarer now that they have high-tech
guidance using ultra-sounds.

The other cause is that the Uro's will do a bladder inspection
using a cystoscope, which is a fibre-optic probe and sometimes this
causes a small tear and bleeding.

As you heal, you should start feeling pretty good and should be able
to pee just fine, even taper down the meds.

At about the one month mark, there are a couple weeks when it gets
hard to pee again.   This is at the cumulative peak of the
radiation.

At that point, I had some urgency and had to pee about every 90
minutes to 2 hours.  This was day and night.  I was getting up to go
every couple hours.

At about the 3 month mark, I was pee'ing almost normal.  Not strong
but plenty good enough.

Then it got better.  Each month, I was able to last another hour.
At 6 months, I've gone as long as 12 hours without peeing.

Go easy on yourself.  If you have sick leave, take it.  I took 4
days off and read, lounged around.  Why not?  You're beating cancer.

Keep writing.  Your reports will help someone else cope.
