For several months on ADT after IMRT, I've had low PSA results, including 0.01 for each of the last three months.

On 4/16, I had another of my monthly PSA tests. The reported result was 4.81, 480 times my last test. My med onc wanted to start Casodex 50 mg qd, followed by chemo, but did agree to a confirmatory retest.

On Friday 4/22, the same day I received the word, I had another draw for PSA, PAP and T (testosterone).

Then I endured four days of extreme anxiety awaiting the result, as such an increase, if real, is a death sentence.

Got the results, today:

PSA 0.01
PAP 0.4
T <20

All as they should be. The lab made an error.

Take-home lesson: if your lab results make no sense, recheck them.

Regards,

Steve J

All I can say is, I thank whatever gods there be for sparing me yet a
while longer.

And I thank CC and Steve for their responses.

OT:

I'm trying out yet another Usenet newsreader, Unison. Just downloaded
it, yesterday. Let me know if it looks wierd.

As a Mac user, I have somewhat less of a choice than PC users.

But I downloaded for my new OS X system a really great desktop. It's a
physical map of the world with moonlight, night, city lights, and
real-time clouds. Updates continuously.

I hope to get this newsreader thing straightened out.

Regards,

Steve J
