results in two weeks. Thanks for your help. I looked over all your replys
to my post this morning trying to calm my fears and it worked....Dan
This is a new one for me. What kind of stones occur in a prostate?
Do you know more about it?

Probably in the bladder.....my brother-in-law had an operation for about 30
bladder stones. That is how they found his Pca.....took a snip while they
were in there.

From what I was told. Stones ( calcu ) in the prostate are very common in
men. They are not like other stones. They lodge in the prostate and don't
pass most of the time. They may or may not cause pain. When they do cause
pain it is usually when a prostatitis infection is caught in them.

Hi Dan.......I guess we learn something new every day on here.....haven't
ever heard of stones in the prostate......calcium deposits, I assume.
Best....Heather

I had two stones in my prostate which were found during biopsy. My
urologist said that they were made up of the same material that creates my
kidney stones (calcium stomes,) which I have once or twice a year for the
pass 25 years.

kidney stones twice a year for 25 years!!! You must have a high tolerance
for pain. Is there nothing they can do for you in terms of medication,
diet, whatever?

I have tried various diets and have drowned myself in water but nothing
seems to prevent the formations of the stones I get. In fact it was a trip
to the E.R., with extreme hip pain and groin pain that prompted the E.R.
doctor to order a CT scan that spotted the stones last December. From that
I made a visit to my urologist who looked at my 2003 PSA and ordered another
which eventually led to another biopsy and the finding of the prostate
cancer. If I hadn't had the severe back pain and not had went to the E.R.
for some relief I probably would still have my prostate and of course the
cancer. Demerol helps greatly when there is extreme pain.

ditto on learning something new. I had never heard of stones in the
prostate before either.

_______
The stones -- calcium deposits, actually -- were one of the things
that prevented me from having seeds. I had a bunch, and the doctor
said they would prevent him from seeing where to place the seeds.

Good For You Dan,
I admit it was not easy for me either.....
Never found stones....Wish they found Gold!
Maybe they feel what is considered lumps.....
Anyway, the biopsy should clear this up.
That is a difficult part......
Consider yourself halfway there...

If they do find PCa have you made a treatment decision yet? I had RRP and
came here for information and support. I had never posted to a ng before.
It was one of the best things I ever did. The medical community still has
some work to do when it comes to communication with patients. I got plenty
of good information here, support from complete strangers, and made some
lasting friendships to boot. Going into the surgery my greatest fear was
bladder spasms, and then I never had one. Try to overcome the fear factor.
It is destructive and certainly does nothing to help you with recovery. Get
the facts, make your decision, move forward and don't look back. As you
found with the biopsy, there was not a lot of pain. My experience with the
surgery was the same. I still do not believe that I had nothing more than
soreness, like after doing too many sit-ups. I was in the hospital for two
days and only took ibuprofen when I went home. The experience was nothing
like I expected for open surgery. Now they have the laparoscopic procedure
and the robot, so the trauma to the body is ever less.
Good luck to you Dan.

That amazed me, too, starting Day 1 and continuing through recovery. I
dreaded that first post-op sneeze, cough, or dropped sock, but none of them
were any big deal. I've generated FAR more pain just making a wrong move
while playing cards, stubbing a toe, or twisting an ankle.
