When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002, I naturally became
interested in its treatment but it has now become an interest in its own
right. One of the conclusions that I have come to is that treatment by
external beam radiotherapy in the UK (and probably in the US) is still some
way from being optimal and I have put together a website containing the
results of two reviews of ebrt particularly when used in conjunction with
hormones therapies. At the moment, this website is on the webspace provided
by my ISP but, if it was thought to be generally interesting, I would
register it with a better domain name and get it professionally hosted. The
url is http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/bradbury (no www after the //). The two
reviews on the site are reasonably technical (especially the second one) but
I would welcome any comments from followers of this newsgroup particularly
those with experience of ebrt treatment in the UK. It is aimed at medical
practitioners as well as patients. Quite apart from the content, I would be
interested to know if the website downloads correctly on a range of PC's. It
should work ok with Internet Explorer and a screen resolution of 1024x768 or
higher. It also seems to work with Mozilla Firefox but, in any case, I would
like to know of any 'failures' to display properly.
I have posted on this newsgroup before but I should perhaps add that I had
ebrt with 150mg per day of Casodex as the hormone arm of the treatment.
Prior to treatment, I had a PSA of 11 with a Gleason of 3+4 in one core out
of 14 samples. I started on the Casodex 3months before the ebrt when my PSA
had fallen to 2.5. I received 74 Gy of radiation (3D conformal) and
continued with the Casodex for just over a year after the ebrt. My PSA for
the last six months on Casodex was essentially unmeasurable. Three months
after stopping the Casodex, my PSA had risen to 0.7 and, after further three
months, it reached 0.8. Naturally, I hope that it will stabilise at
somewhere around this figure but only time will tell!

Have you looked at the long history of proton treatment at Loma Linda
University(USA) with the International community?

Les,
Your site work fine for me on a Dell Dimension 8200 on Windows XP using
NetCaptor as the browser. Nice job.
