John, just checking up on you.  Curt went refractory about 4-6 months ago
but delayed treatment (taxotere + decadron + zofran )  and a PSA of 87 .we
just went for round 2 today. His hair is 2/3s gone already. (mr meticulous
hasn't showered for 2 days!! I think all the hair in the shower tub freaked
him out). another unusual response by Superman.

we were just wondering how John was doing and if he was still in the trial.
Curt's Liver enzymes put him out of guidelines for a weekly IV of MEDI-522
plus Taxotere, decadron, zofran, and zometa every 3 weeks. 14 months of
Vicodin did in the liver. now he takes Actiq suckers for pain which are not
widely used in Minnesota so I have been having a horrific time trying to
fill the script. They all carry the Fentynal patch (makes Curt throw up
more) so they are way freaked when I show up with a script for 150 400 mcg
suckers! lol.
still has his moustache and has to shave so he might just have to go for the
van dyke look.

please let us know how it is going. I actually Googled you to see when you
had last posted to a group and it was your motorcyle group. I am glad you
finally got his disability settled. We have social security disablilty which
also gives a good amount to each child each month but you have to have filed
taxes and Curt hasn't filed 2003 even though he probably doesn't owe. so
that is out for now. he will do it when he HAS to.
he still works his company pretty much full time. he is delegated more
prelim work like tearouts, stripping and padding then he seams the carpet
and stretches it in.
take care

from Carolyn to my other email. she asked me to forward due to computer
probs.
> John, just checking up on you.

Hi lorelei, have to send this to you direct because my computer is a bit
poorly and wont send to group if you can forward to group please do. John is
doing ok. During the last three weeks John has been taken of the the phase 1
trial after 15 cycles of three weekly Taxotere+ Omnitarg+Dexamethasone. This
is because of a steady rise in PSA and a slight desease progression shown on
bone scan leading the docs to suspect that he has become Taxatere resistant.
During the trial John had remained very well, hair loss, fatigue, high blood
sugar(12.9), and skin thinning being the only real side affects. They have
given John 4 weeks off treatment to rest and then will look for another
trial to start him on. Whilst i find the fact that John has lost yet another
treatment option by becoming taxatere resistant rather troublesome and
worrying John remains very positive and is not at all concerned. He still
rides his motorbike, walks the dog 6miles at a time, powerkites and does all
sorts of things that would make your toes curl. I send you all my best
wishes and hope that Curt is doing well.

Love Carolyn Preston
