Hi again all

Today I had my first fraction of 23 total of 3DCRT (which was
unremarkable).

However, I've been on ADT since I entered this treatment regime, Nov
1, 2004,  and I feel this is somewhat remarkable.

PSA so far 21.0 (entry) --- 2.4 (6 wks) - 0.45 (12 wks) - 0.15
(18wks).

Testosterone levels are below the measurement standard here in Au. (at
castration level).

I just hope they don't burn my butt off with that mean EBRT machine.

Good news on the PSA readings.  May they stay low forever.

How will you know it worked if they don't give
you at least a little radiation burn?

The surgery guys have the big zipper on the stomach to
prove that something actually was done while they were
sleeping.  But we radiation targets won't know anything
happened if we don't see those singed hairs and skin
rashes to prove that they didn't just put us on a table
and make buzzing noises. :)

When I had EBRT they didn't actually burn my butt off,
but they did burn off most of the hair and give me some
radiation burns on the skin.  But it all came back
pretty quickly with no obvious long term effects.

Alan,

If that's the proof, what can those of us who had seeds show, other than
that "glow" for a few weeks? ;-)

Good point Tom.  It would be useful to know whether
they actually did anything.

Maybe you can sit on an unexposed roll of film and see
what develops?

I have two dosimeters implanted in me (one in the prostrate and another in
adjacent tissue) that measure the amount of radiation I get (internally)
and transmit the result after each session and compare it to the planned
amount I should be receiving!

HeY guys, I was only speaking figuratively.
I'm well aware of what SE's to expect after the buzzes.

What DOES concern me a little is that I'm already experiencing a
slight "Throttling" of the Urine Stream after only 3 Fractions.
I've got another Fraction today and then will be off for 4 days for
the Easter (au) break.
I had a TURP 16 yrs ago, but some say the residual "squared off" scar
tissue can cause a partial or total blockage to the Urine Flow as it
is not as resilient as a nicely rounded natural one :-(
Already cut back on the Tramadol which also contributes to this, but
will have to mention the "Flow" TODAY if still problematical.
Worst case scenario, portable External Ultrasound to determine the
retention and then a CATHETER!! :-((

Anyone else in the group touched on this before?

I had a TURP a year prior to my RRP, and had salvage EBRT 24 months
after that. Never had a urine flow (nor continence) problem after the
RRP, nor during/after the EBRT.

Good luck with your treatments!

Well there'd be no chance of that after the prostate was removed!
I'm on ADT and RT only. My prostate REMAINS!

I haven't had a TURP, but I did have great difficulty urinating
after my radiation treatments.  After the last HDR I couldn't
urinate at all.  The doctors "showed me the implements" (a
catheter) and that somehow stimulated me to force some out.

I used Flowmax for about 3 months after the end of radiation
before everything calmed down and I was back to more or less
normal.

Amazing what FEAR does!!
I actually got some Flomax yesterday to bust the dam.

Thanks for the reply, and please exclude yourself from my "Yank
Bashing" rant further down the list :)
