At 4.5 months post-RP and 31 days post-28-day-Zoladex, my oncologist called
to say both PSA and T are virtually zero.
And, ya know, I feel 110%. Not one SE . . . yet.
So I cracked the widow a little bit, and asked him one last time, "What are
the odds this could continue if I drove in today and continued the Zoladex?
And how long would you recommend I stay on Zoladex?"
His answer: "No, you would definitely see SEs before long, some right away.
Even if you escaped some, some others would definitely strike (concurs with
Strum). You'd need to stay on it for two years for any real benefit (just
what the research shows), and by then it would take you many months to
recover (again, so say the trials). It would definitely denigrate your
lifestyle (Walsh and Strum agree), and the benefits are uncertain (no
surprise there, either). You're fine, and I'm fine, with your current plan."
It's encouraging to have the oncologists who initially recommended ADT
approve, almost encourage, my thoroughly-explained rejection of their
initial plan. One of them said in their weekly staff conference last week,
after they reviewed my last e-mail, "This guy's got his head on straight."
Another added, "I wish my residents would read this much."
Jack up their PSA and they'll start reading!
This may kill me, but at least my head's on straight, my decision is made
and confirmed, and I'm sleeping great without a thought of my beast. And to
top it off, the windsurfing season starts tomorrow with 68 degrees and 40-60
mph winds. Life's good . . . for now.

That is GREAT! It goes to prove what lots studying and an great effort
to implement what you've learned can accomplish. I can think of a few
docs I'd like to jack up...I think that their limited knowledge on the
subject would improve exponentially!
