I'm scheduled for RRP in two weeks. Age 66, PSA 4, Gleason 6 in one
sample of 12. It is early detection, and I'm lucky to be expecting the
best chances. It must be done, and I think I'm as prepared as I can be.
The plans are made, and for now, my coping stategy is to try to ignore
it as much as possible.

My wife came back bubbling from Walmart today, saying the Depends lady
was there stocking shelves, and she had a couple of free samples.  I
really can't tell you what a thrill that was for me. :)

Bless her heart. I'm in really good hands. I know this is coming, and
expected, hopefully only a couple of months for the most part.
Intellectually, I understand the reason and purpose and advantages, and
I see the hope of it. But I really wasnt expecting diapers today.

Good luck Wayne with your op.
I ( 66 yo, PSA 5.4 ) got 'done' 5 months ago, I,m virtually dry now
(have to concentate  and squeeze when I sneeze or laugh ) even then
there is only a spot not a spray. I did kedgels as per instruction ,
but it didn't seem to help.
Followed Tdub's advice here and was dry in two weeks! Walking helps!
Having a devoted wife is a huge asset, mine is a gem.
Surgeon saved some nerves and my path. test showed the tumor was within
the margins, that's what you want to hear.

I understand how you feel (and hopefully you won't need to use them, or only
briefly), but, you know, you had ANOTHER realization today, and that is a
blessing-the realization of how wonderful your wife is and how great a help
and support she is going to be for you and how lucky you are to be going
into this with her by your side.  I am also so fortunate that way,  The best
of luck to you and a hug to her on my part.

Wayne,
I had numbers similar to yours except I was 50 years old, when I was
operated on in Feb 2004. I'm fine now. Waiting for the surgery was the
hard part for me. Giving away the left over incontinence stuff at 8 wks
was a very happy time. I hope you do the same or better. Good luck.

Good Luck Wayne.

I wish you the very best.

My surgery is to be Monday.

I'm 56, PSA 7.2, T1c, Gleason 3+4=7

And I'm a lot more nervous than you seem.

You're doin' good.  :-)

Again...the very best to you.

I'm sure that things will go well.

Just give me one more week to catch up Ron, then we'll see.  I got
closer today.  :)  I really wasnt ready to think about diapers yet. I
guess my plan was a couple of weeks after surgery first, hoping the
thrill of getting rid of the catheter would offset it a little.  But we
do hear many good stories of success, and if motivation will help, then
I'm already home free. :)

Thanks Ron, and good luck to you too. It will be fine.  Sure, it is
spooky, but yes, we're both going to be OK.  Then we get to tell some of
the tales here. :)

Thanks to all that's been there for the nice comments.  That really
helps me.
