Howard and Hope - 15 Mar 2005 03:46 GMT 6 weeks out of Robotic Surgery...still tip of weenie still hurts and burns a bit when urinating, also evenings I hurt at the bottom end. And when I go to urinate...using those muscles to get the pee going really can hurt at times..is most of this pretty normal ? I see Uro 16th..Howie
I. P. Freely - 15 Mar 2005 04:50 GMT If you need to DO anything to start peeing, something is out of order. You should be rocked back on your heels the instant you let fly. Think, "race horse", "car wash", ""FDNY", etc. .

PAUL KRAUSE - 16 Mar 2005 00:50 GMT go to your uro and get checked for scar tissue. i had the same problem with complete blockage. they did same day surgery and removed the scar tissue. you don't want to completely block-up, believe meit is a miserable feeling, as i blocked up three times, before the same day surgery . so far so good after a year. after my prostate surgery, i threw blood clogs that put me in intensive care for five days and a total of ten days in the hosp. with alot of prayer and a wonderful wife who took care of me through all of this my psa is 0 after a year and a half from surgery. you will have your ups and downs, but the worst is over for you. good luck.
Pops - 16 Mar 2005 15:42 GMT I am now 7 weeks out of surgery and the race horse thing is great - much better than it was when I went in. Still have some incontinence but improving continuously. As with the others posting here I'd see my uro if i were you. If there is no scar tissue you should have no trouble peeing (except perhaps stopping it).
Not a big deal, but needs attention.
Good luck
Howard and Hope - 16 Mar 2005 20:54 GMT Saw Uro today..he said to keep watch on it..May be scar tissue.most the pain is normal healing..PSA <0.01..he said Excellent!!!
I. P. Freely - 16 Mar 2005 21:59 GMT It's anecdotal, but I had zero pain performing ANY bodily functions post-op, now did any of them require any effort. How about the rest of you . . . are Howie and I just at opposite ends of the bell curve, or did most of you experence no pain or problems going to the bathroom post-catheter? I've not read of such problems. Should Howie pressure his doc more, try a different doc, or just wait this out?

Howard and Hope - 17 Mar 2005 03:02 GMT Uro said could be urinary infection..he did a culture on the urine (Have not heard anything as yet) and gave me 3 pills to ight off any infection..if that be he case. Said that bladder infections will show blood in urine..funny thing, when I pee at home..pee clear or a bit yellow..but when had to pee in cup at Dr's office..urine looked a deeper yellow..? then they said blood? Told him about the stinging at the tip and the "All over pee spray"..thats another thng..sometimes a good straight stream, other times a split stream andis not a full bladder..a spray stream??? Dr said to keep watchfull eye on it...other from tat I am doing better as far as pain..ok tonight.. Howie..oh, PSA <0.01..is this good?
ckh - 17 Mar 2005 13:42 GMT > am doing better as far as pain..ok tonight.. Howie..oh, PSA <0.01..is > this good? Man, life does not get any better than a PSA < 0.01
Do this, take a hundred dollar bill and buy yourself two bottles of champaigne. Drink one tonight, hollarin' Wa-Hoooo-Weee!
You should be leaping, jumping, and spinning like Jennifer Beals at the end of "Flashdance".
"What a feelin'...." thumpa-thumpa
Set the other bottle aside. In about 3 months, when the next PSA comes in at that level, you'll have to do it again.
If I had to do it, you should too.
Howard and Hope - 17 Mar 2005 14:48 GMT May just do that...I have the movie Flashdance and love the music and dancing..maybe can lay around naked with my wife????? (Even though mr weenie is still INOP!!!)...have pizza and a movie with the champaigne....Thanks
Steve Kramer - 17 Mar 2005 23:33 GMT Hmmmmmmmmm. Causes me to think of a great way to demonstrate the value of a 0.01 PSA for Howie.
The largest PSA I've seen in this NG is 4000. Imagine 40,000 pennies laid side-by-side, forming a square. Better do it on your floor, because the square would be almost 9' square.
When you've amassed all these pennies, pull one out of your pocket. What you have in your hand is your PSA. What you see on the floor is another living man's PSA.
Personally, I'm thrilled to have five pennies in my hand.

I think it only fair to point out to Howie that with that "<" sign in front of the 0.01 it means that he has LESS THAN 0.01. How much less than? Who knows? It means that it's UNDETECTABLE. Theoretically, it could be as much as much as 0.009999999 or as little as 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 or less.
Howie, using Steve's analogy, you may not even have lint in your pocket.
Be well.
Howard and Hope - 18 Mar 2005 03:52 GMT That's the word the Uro used..Undetectable...
Steve Kramer - 18 Mar 2005 14:53 GMT By way of comparison, the universally adopted definition of "virtually undetectable" is <0.1 and you are 1/10th of that.

Steve Kramer - 18 Mar 2005 15:52 GMT I don't know how else to put it. It is good. It is great! It is the best PSA of anyone in this whole damned newgroup!

Happy Easter
David S. - 15 Mar 2005 14:08 GMT My sore bottom lasted a long time. I do not, however, remember any connection with that ailment to urinating? I agree with I.P., it does not sound right that you have to strain to urinate. Before the surgery I was "pee shy". Sometimes it took a long time to get things going. Now it just starts immediately without any effort (wish the hell it worked like that in high school).
Better talk to your doctor about this Howie, just to be sure that nothing is wrong in there. Remember the one thing we all learn about this experience, everyone is different, so your symptoms may be perfectly normal for you. Do not just silently suffer though. Do not be afraid to be a pest when it comes to communicating with your physician.
Good luck for happy bottoms ahead, and soon.
Thank you. David S.

I see Uro 16th..Howie anontoall@yahoo.com - 15 Mar 2005 14:29 GMT >tip of weenie still hurts this is the leftover effects of the catheter -- this should go away on its own. you can use (non-petroleum-based) creams to soothe and heal.
> when I go to urinate...using those muscles to get the pee going other people who responded talked about peeing like a race horse: this WILL come, but will come later most likely. FOr quite a while post-op I also had some trouble completely getting all the pee out and my flow was not strong at all. at this point (6 weeks post-op) you're still healing. it took me several months before I got the race horse thing.
I AM NOT A DOC - of courseyou should ask your doc about all this.
ronju99 - 15 Mar 2005 15:17 GMT You probably have scar tissue blocking your uretha at the blatter neck. Sometimes it will dislodge by itself with some force when trying to urinate. When it does, it usually feels like a tear with small sharp pain. It it becomes blocked, they can open it without much ado. Ron S
