Congratulations.

I never saw the urologist again, so I don't know what he wants to see
you for.

I get PSA tests annually.

What's next?  On with life!

My docs at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in NYC have me getting
PSA's every 3 months for the first year and every 6 months for the next 4
years after that.  I go to my local (in NJ) Uro for the PSA tests.  Last
time there I was quite surprised that he asked me to drop trou and bend over
for a DRE.  I figured that since I had a RRP, I'd never have to have that
again.  He said nope - we still have to check.  ask you're doc on the 16th
what to expect in the future.

good luck,
sandy K.

Grab Hope, plant a big wet one on her lips, and go out and celebrate!

> How often will PSA be checked ?

My uro wanted quarterly checks for two years, semiannual checks for three
years and annual checks for 54 years.  Some docs step up to semiannual and
annual more quickly.

Howie...Was the PSA actually 0.01 as you've stated or was it <0.01
(less than 0.01)?..Best wishes and good health, Ron

Not really quite sure..a nurse told me over the phone..from the VA...but
my Uro may want anotherPSA when I see him the 16th. All I heard from the
VA nurse was a fast 0.1 or something like it..

==============hi howie - this is one thing i wanted to tell you and this is a big plus
on your side.  if it was only 5 weeks and your psa dropped to .01 - this
is a very good sign.  the reason is because once the prostate is out of
the body, it takes a while for the body to adjust and to go from your
pre-surgery psa to that post surgery psa number over the 5 week time
span shows that it appears they got it.

now, all you have left,  is the nail biting time from now till you die
to worry about the psa test each time it rolls around........... (said
in jest)  :)
