Hi,I,m new.My name is Dan,Im 40 years old and don't now what to do.I have
been having pain in my butt, penis, testicles and back for over 3 months
now.I also have had blood in urine and sperm and have to urinate alot.It
sometimes hurts during sex and the pain is getting worse in my private
parts.I have had some of this symptoms off and on for the last 4 years, but
not as bad or long.I went to UR and he did a DRE and said there was
scarring and then did a TRUS.The nurse called him into the room why she
was doing it and they oood and aaaad. The doc said it was e-regular and was
going through some changes and he did'nt like the way it looked. He wanted
to do a biopsy. My PSA was 0.6 I told him I wanted a second opinion on the
biopsy and he went nuts.He told me If I did,nt have it done now,he would
ban me from his practice. So I saw another UR.He said that he thought it
was prostatitis, because there is not much pain with PC in the early
stages. He also said that my PSA was normal and would be higher with that
kind of pain it would have spread if it was PC and that prostatitis can
cause what the first UR Put down on paper about my prostate..significant
e-regular and multi calu. The first UR also put me on cipro and said he
would give me a antibody injection in my prostate while doing the biopsy
incase it was prostatitis.A month has went buy and it is getting worse. The
pain was so bad, that I went to the er the other night and all they did was
give me pain pills.I see the second UR in a month,he is going to see how
I'm doing and maybe do another TRUS if I'm not doing better.Sorry this is
so long. What do you guys think? Also one more thing .The first UR is 75
and the second is 40 and if it is protatitis, then it is the non-bacteria
kind which is the most common, because no bacteria was found in my
urine,but trace blood.

First of all, I'm not a doctor.
But from my reading, I think both doctors are giving you accurate and
standard information.
When you say you want a second opinion on the biopsy, do you mean you
want a second opinion on whether or not to have a biopsy? If so, I
don't know why you questioned that. The TRUS already showed that your
prostate gland looks irregular, so of course the doctor needs to see
some actual cells next. The biopsy is no big deal. It's a lot less
discomfort than you already feel.
Yes, it is not likely that you have prostate cancer. But the doctor is
just doing his job.

From what I have seen re Prostatitis, it's a Generic Term which can
describe a number of Prostate related Diseases, but not Prostate
Cancer as we understand it. The Govt. does not openly support Funding
for Prostatitis as it deems it non-specific.
There is some info here:

I think you shouldn't have waited 4 yrs to do something about it, and
your UROs seem to be in the dark. Go see someone else, even a Primary
Care (G.P.) can do better than them in a lot of cases.
I had a TURP done 12 yrs ago by a General Surgeon from an External
U/Sound and complaint of Urine Retention. The post-op pathology of the
removed (reamed) tissue confirmed it was BPH.
Now I'm in a different class with PCa, but that is non-related.

From my own experience with a severe infection from the prostate, Cipro is
not effective (oddly, since it is considered, I believe, almost a
"universal" antibiotic. Keflex worked perfectly for me. Ask your doctor.

Dan,
If your prostate is irregular, then you probably need a biopsy. Its not
a big deal. You need a urologist you trust. Ask around. Ask some
doctors and/ or nurses who they would go to themselves or send a family
member to. Where do you live? Some guys here may be able to suggest
somebody. We have all had a lot of experience dealing with urologists.
