injections to get it up

Hi all,
I just went today for my first injection (and instruction on how to do
it myself) for ED. My ED doc is Mullhall at Sloan Kettering -- he does
not use Caverjet due to its many potential problems (pain, etc.); he
uses his own concoction that contains a lower dose of what's in
Caverjet and other drugs. Had a really pretty nurse inject me (only
adding to the humiliation). Got an erection of quality about 6 out of
10 in about 5 mins. and it lasted about a minute before subsiding to
about a 3. Next time will use a higher does until we titrate the right
dose for me. Scary things are potentially having an erection for 2
hours (take Sudafed to "get it down"), 3 hours (call the 24/7 hotline),
or 4 hrs. (get to an emergency room!). I even get a wallet card to show
in an ER if necessary so they know what meds to give. (Gee I wonder if
I have to show it when going thru security at the airport? :-)

I am just wondering what others' experiences with ED injections have
been.

I should be a salesman for the shots. I learned how to do them pre-op,
and have been using them on a regular basis since day 13. I found that
the apprehension about sticking myself went away completly with
practice. After a while you hardly feel it. The anxiety makes it seem
worse than it is when you are just starting out. Being able to reliably
get a 100% rigid erection that will last for at least an hour, and that
feels great is more than enough to make up for any discomfort. By the
way, I started out with Caverject Impulse. The needles are much bigger
than they need to be. Now I use gauge #31 ultrafine needles. They are
about are big as a course hair and only about a quarter inch long.
Caverject used to hurt terribly, so for several months I was on bi-mix.
Then I went back to Caverject several months later because I had some
left over. It was GREAT!  Pills work for me now, but they don't compare
to the shots. With pills, I'm still less than I was pre-op. With the
shots I'm not stoppable. Good luck.

Hello,
I was hoping for a female nurse.....during injection class!  No luck.
I was given prostaglandin.  It is kept on ice, and in the frig.
First Day.....I get shown....use a diabetic needle and push it in all the
way.
It worked somewhat..........medium hard boiled, sloppy.
Second day.....I did it......uped the dose......70 on the needle line.....
Went up quick////
I was sitting there with old glory for about 1/2 hour or more.......
Where is the nurse? (female).....

Ok.  Prostaglandin did work well for me for about 1.5 years......I had
problems with erections that lasted 2 hours, and were painful..
Best time to shoot is a.m.  I this way you can walk it off......
At night.......it was not much fun after having sex....You were left with a
pulsating painful medium erection.....
After about 2 years, I started getting slight erections.........Viagra gave
me a nasty headache.....
Then after about 2.5 years....Viagra worked wonders.....
Now I am 5 years out.....Use about 1/3 of a 100 mg viagra pill.
It works...I do get erections but they are not real hard....but ok...Viagra
does the extra.......
Good wishes.

I got the female nurse.  Good looker, too!  Then she pulls out this fake
penis.....  Just my luck.

But, the way she stabbed away at the prop, I was kinda glad for it.

I started injections 10 months after surgery because Viagra was doing
nothing.  I had good success with Alprostadil (Edex) but it as pretty
expensive ($30 a shot) and not covered by insurance.  I talked my URO into a
prescription for Tri-mix and it works great.  It is even better than the
Alprostadil.  It is far less expensive and I am still decreasing the dosage
so the cost is still going down.  I'm injecting 4 ml now and I understand I
may be able to go quite a bit lower.  Good luck.

Caverject and MUSE did not work for me.  They resulted in a lot of
discomfort.  I am using trimix now, and with success.  Over the first five
or so uses the discomfort went down, so I am able to have intercourse with
my wife.  The erection lasts about 30 minutes.  I use 50 units on the
diabetic syringe scale (20 mg?).  The injection itself is nothing.  I feel
the needle going in, but it is definitely not painful.  Nothing to fear
there.  Inject in the side of the penis though, not in the top or bottom of
the penis.  Nerves and blood vessels are there.  Alternate sides for the
injections to avoid scarring, or at least that is what I was told and what I
have read many times here.

Overall I am not really happy with where I am at with this.  The erections
are definitely not the same as what I experienced pre RRP.  The "pleasurable
feeling" is nothing like before.  I am not sure an implant is worth it
because that would not help with the sensation.

I had a male nurse give the injection training, :(((  , but a real pretty
red head took out the surgical staples post RRP.

Good luck to you!
