I had Robotic Prostate Surgery on Dec. 20. It was done by Mani Menon at
the Vattikuti institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Overall, i
am very pleased! I was in the hospital only overnite, back to work in
three weeks, and i am currently almost completly continent, with only
an occasional accident, mainly at nite.It Is fantastic, especially when
compared to the other types of surgery. Dr. Menon has done hundreds of
the surgeries, perhaps more than anyone around. I have some ways to go
to regain normal sexual function, but, considering that my surgery was
fairly extensive, iam going to be patient.

I had the daVinci robotic laparoscopic surgery 11 months ago at University
of California, San Francisco, at age 67. All went very well. I stayed in
hospital for 2 nights, only because we had to drive 200 miles home (I drove
half way). Catheter was removed after 10 days. Wore a pad about 4 weeks
for security, but did not really need it. I have been totally continent
since then. Four days after surgery I started walking one mile each morning
which I think contributed to a good recovery. The only department not up to
snuff is the erections, but with the help of injections they are quite
satisfactory. I've done half a dozen and they are pretty easy to do.
