Well, I am home today, Friday. Went in early Tuesday for the Robotic
Prostate Surgery...6 hrs.... has anyone who has had that surgery
experienced..blisters and abraisions on the shoulders and no feeling in
a hand..like it went to sleep and would not wake up? My hand woke up
finally in 3 days..blisters were bad, Uro Doc said from the machine when
they clamp you in with body tilted head down..Thanks, Howie

Howie,
Just compare that discomfort with what you'd be feeling if you had been
opened up from navel to pubic bone.
Be sure to let us know your results.

Post-op pathology report?
Post-op PSA?
Maybe, incontinence? impotence?
Any recovery problems?
Etc., etc. With others maybe considering robotic laparascopic radical
prostatectomy, we're all interested in how you are doing on an ongoing
basis. Those kinds of results of your RLRP.

Glad you're home. Take it easy for a few days. You will be surprised how soon you'll be wondering why you can't drive, lift buckets, etc.

You did not mention where you had your surgery. I'm scheduled to have
robotic LRP next month at the University of Chicago Hospital. What was
the name of your surgeon?
Howie and Hope - 06 Feb 2005 20:34 GMT
Had mine at St Alphonsus, Boise Idaho, Feb 1st... Howie

It seems that most robotic surgeons have limited experience since the
procedure is relatively new. My doc in Chicago has done about 200
procedures, but this is still a small number compared to the open RRP
surgeons. How experienced was your surgeon as far as number of RLRPs and
his success in preserving continency, potency, and negative margin rates?
Howie and Hope - 07 Feb 2005 18:31 GMT
I know he does 2 or 3 a week...sucess rate good...dont know about other
stuff yet..haveto see him 14th to have cath removed and to get
results..I hadmy surgery on the 1st and I was out of hosp on the
4th...not doing too bad now...just bladder discomfort..
