18-month report

Just got the 18-month PSA, it's still <0.1, right where I want it.  As
some of you know, I had LRP on July 15, 2003.  Went in with PSA 4.9,
PSA velocity 0.7, Gleason 6, T1c, 3 out of 12 biopsy cores positive.
Came out with Gleason still 6, all else negative except for a possible
positive margin ("a small 2mm diameter focus barely touching the
margin, no evidence of penetration beyond the margin" sez the doc).
Twenty-five percent cancer by volume.  Still leaking into one pad per
day which by some older studies makes me continent, by others
incontinent.  Somehow I don't feel all that continent but it's not a
big bother - just got to remember to get a package of pads every so
often.  Little Willie, on a scale of 1-10 where 8 is hard enough for
penetration, is about a 7 with Viagra, a 4 without which is all better
than a year ago when all efforts produced a 2 at best.  Cialis and
Levitra don't work as well as Viagra.  I see the uro in a few weeks and
he's supposed to give me the injection stuff then.  Will report on how
that goes.

Life is good, can't complain.  Those low PSAs are a real delight.

Excellent news Dave.

If you haven't tried it, you might want to try the vacuum
pump devices.  I haven't used one myself,
but some others in the newsgroup have had good results
with them and their non-invasive - no requiring drugs or
injections in a sensitive spot.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I have tried a vacuum pump and found it
unsatisfactory.  Besides the purplish hue, the distorted appearance,
and the overall inconvenience, I found the device sucked up tissue on
the left side which no amount of repositioning would avoid.  I'm not
sure where the tissue came from since both testicles were firmly wedged
outside the tube.  Anyway, it was painful and the pain lasted the
better part of a day.

That sounds nasty!

Maybe the size you had was too small, or the rings too tight.

In any case, I can see why you wouldn't want to do that again.

Hey Man,  Sounds like you are on the mend!  Great PSA #s...
It took time for Viagra to kick in for me.   After injections and such,
I tried it, and had troubles...Headache etc.
Now I use about 1/4 of a 100 mgs pill and it works......
I hate to be dependant on that, but without...it is a softee....albeit
useable.
I prefer hardness.....Hum......much better for sex.....
John Loomis....Good wishes to you!
