For those of you following the Kramer Family Disease Follies, while 2004 has
hit us pretty hard, it is ending on an up note.
My father-in-law who suffered Alzheimer's, as I posted earlier, died on the
28th. That is very good news for him and he was given Last Rites ? hour
before expelling his last breath.
My cousin's colon biopsies came back negative. The doc feels all the cancer
was in the polips. He is being referred to an onc just in case, but we know
what that's all about.
My brother in law's chemo for lymphoma is half done. They did some mid-term
scans and can find no active cancer cells anywhere. They will likely
continue the treatment, but he may not have to go through all six cycles.
My son's check-up shows no testicular cancer, where his testicle used to be.
My sister-in-law, after the docs told us she would be near vegitative the
rest of her life, is now up and walking with a walker and talking, though
she confuses words sometimes and has little short-term memory.
My mother is off her walker now, after undergoing her second hip operation
on her left leg.
I go for my next PSA next week (1? years into ADT) and fully expect .05 +/-
.01.
The rest of my wife's family is still nuts, but all in all, this last month
has been decidedly better than the previous 11.

Glad to hear that things are looking up!

Steve K,
I'm glad to hear things are going better for you. Your story has been
particularly compelling to me because I too have had sick relatives
while doing the PCa shuffle. My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer
close to the same time I got my bad news. That was followed by surgery
then chemo problems. My younger sister has MS, then she added gall
bladder surgery, and she still is facing back surgery. My Dad has been
a modern day Job, with a sick wife and two sick kids. We are all doing
OK for now. My daughter got married recently. That happy day was a
breath of fresh air for all involved. I have found it is worse having
sick loved ones than having trouble myself. Lets hope 2005 is a good
one!
