OT:  Is it just me, or is this new format somewhat annoying?  Or am I
just hallucinating and the rest of you will say,  "what new format"?

Before I say... "what new format"... you have to realize that we all use
different newsreaders.

He's posting through Google instead of using a newsreader.

CPW,
Download "Thunderbird" newsreader from the internet. It is free. And
while you are there, you might want to download Mozilla Firefox browser.
It is at least as good and secure as IE....

Try this link:

I have been *test driving* Firefox and it is excellent!!  A bit of a
learning curve, but I am bad at reading the manuals, grin.  It is much
faster and no worry of popups or hijackers.  I will just use IE for those
pages that require it.....but there are extensions and plugins that will
allow you to view them, I understand.

Haven't tried Thunderbird, but may do so.  About to upgrade to XP Home, so
will wait till that is sorted out.  It has been sitting here for 2
years.....so phoned my Microsoft MVP friend in England last night and he is
going to walk me thru it as I want to possibly either double boot or have 2
hard drives.  Not sure.  WinME is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Cheers and a Happy New Year.....Heather

For webpages hostile to Firefox, try this extension.

Thunderbird is OK, but not nearly as solid as Firefox, IMHO. And it can
be user challenging for the newbie. Still it is more secure than OE as
you have more control over scripts and image execution. It also comes
with a Spam filter (which is quite weak, again MHO).

I have been using both and am very pleased.  No spam and very few pop ups/

Thanks, Neil......that is the one that was mentioned to me.  I assume you
are using it.  I have been poring over the extensions to see what I need.

I will stick to OE for news & mail......I have it pretty secure with tweaks
and safe hex.  And my ISP now has a spam and virus filter, which is pure
bliss....I was getting about 100 of them per day.  I even stopped using
Mailwasher, grin.

Cheers.....Heather
