Hi:
I posted a question a while back about post seeding urination issues, since I was
concerned about that potential problem. The responses were helpful, and set my mine to
rest. Its only fair that I post my experience after a couple of days.
I was seeded on the 2nd (I had voted previously), 90 iodine seeds (I am told).
Left the hospital with a catheter, and happily removed it the next morning. Some minor
problems getting started urinating, but slept the whole night through that first night and
the second night. The only real discomfort was my back, which they tell me is common
because of the position they put you in to insert the seeds.
If anyone is interested I will keep you posted.
Bottom line is that so far its been much better than I expected and, although slightly the
worse for wear, I am "up and running" again with few problems!
Best

Definitely keep posting. This is very valuable information for the
patient yet to undergo the procedure or who is still trying to make a
decision on treatment alternatives.
Good luck to you.
Thank you.

From what I've heard the problems come much later on, as the prostate and
surrounding tissue die off. Keep us posted and good luck1

Hi John,
Congratulations with the smooth going! I had seeds last June and my quality
of life is good (except for the affects of the hormone injections). Are you
taking Flomax by any chance to help with the peeing?
Keep us posted.

Hi John,
Glad to hear it went well, I also had seeds implanted in June and can repeat
what Larry has said about QOL. You may develop some minor urinary problems
in three or four weeks as the seeds do their work, perhaps it will take a
little longer with I125, I had Pd103 with a much shorter half life. Now I'm
just waiting for the last Lupron shot to wear off.

Hey Tom!
You're on your last Lupron shot? How do you rate!!! ;-) How long have you
been on it? Sorry if you've mentioned it, I don't recall - Sr. Moment? I'm
slated for TWO YEARS on Zoladex. I just had my fourth injection last
Wednesday. My first year on the stuff will be February 5.
I'm very happy for you that you are near the end of the hormone treatments.
I will be very interested in knowing how well you do once it wears off.

Larry,
I had one one-month (7.5 mg) and one three-month (22.5 mg) shot of
Lupron.
Based on the blood levels of testosterone, it appears that the full
effect lasted about five months. Then my testosterone levels began
to rise. It took another month or a bit more after that for them to reach
their normal levels, but they did reach the same level they were at
before treatment. Once they did, the side effects of the drug, including
loss of libido and hot flashes, both went away.
I did experience some rheumatoid arthritis like joint pain in my
fingers some month after the Lupron wore off. I don't know if
it's related or not. According to the insert in the drug packaging
(available on the web) it could be related. So far, I'm controlling
that with exercise.

Hi Larry;
No flowmax yet! Surgeon said my prostate was "not tight" and that I didn't need it. Friday
now (was done on Tuesday) and the only minor problem is starting a flow first thing in the
morning, but its not a big problem. Discomfort is on a 1-10 scale is a 1.

Hi Larry,
I've been on Lupron since last Nov., in Sept. of this year I asked the Dr.
when the Lupron would end. He told me "one more shot", when I was making an
appointment for the next visit the receptionist commented "you're coming
back in 30 days for a 4 month shot". I had been getting the 30 day doses
prior to the last one. I have a prescription for the PSA test that is dated
April 05.
