I noticed in the NY Times on Friday: the Dendron Corporation announced they
had "extended the lives of men with advanced prostate cancer" with an
experimental vaccine called "Provenge."  You can see the article at
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/29/business/29drug.html ... The NY Times site
requires registration (but no salesman will call).

Um, this is not a flame: the correct spelling of the company name
is Dendreon.

Provenge is in a late Phase 3 trial stage for the FDA, and is "on
a fast track." I don't have the details, but the release, natch,
makes it sound promising.

The October 28 press release upon which the NYT article is no
doubt based can be found at Dendreon's website:

Provenge certainly seems to have medicine on a good track.  Whether there is
gold at the end of that rainbow is still to be seen.  Some studies come back
with great results while others are rather lame.  But, it looks like it
works very well in some cases.
