Unexpected weight gain or loss?

Just wondered if any other RRP patients experienced unexplained
weight loss or weight gain after the surgery?   I had lost about 20
lbs. the year before when I had gall bladder problems.  After that
surgery I put back on about 5 libs., but kept the rest off without
dieting or doing anything special.  After the RRP the weight all came
back.  No change in diet.  Still walking for exercise, same as now.
In the last five or six weeks I have lost about five lbs. again, but
this is after going on a diuretic for high BP, so that may be water
weight (although my doctor says no).
  Thank you.

David,

No, and I haven't heard of weight gain as a side effect of RRP.

Are you sure your level of exercise is the same?  I had a tough time of it
and found every move painful for weeks.

I stayed within 5 lbs and two years later I'm still at the same weight.

Part of my intestines didn't wake up for a week after anesthesia.  I lost 21
pounds.  All came back, and then some, over the next few weeks.

Recently, cut my carbs in half and lost about 30 pounds.

I had an RP 3/31/04 (Gleason 6, PSA 4.5, nerves spared, age 63). It
took a little over 2 months to get back to normal strength. At one
point, about 3 weeks post-op, I found I felt more energetic after
eating lots of carbohydrates--pies, bagels, cookies, etc. For a short
period I could wolf down food like this and not gain an ounce. Then my
metabolism returned to normal.
