Bev,
Thanks to you and others who voiced there concerns about us and other
floridians riding out this hurricane. We left our residence due to a
mandatory evacuation in the barrier islands where I live. We spent 4
days in New Port Richey which is north of Tampa in a flea infested
hotel - not fun!
Yes, our house is still standing. We did have some roof damage and
unfortunately some water damage which ruined our wood floors we just
put in a few months ago but overall I feel very lucky. I was so
afraid that I would come back to nothing. Based upon what I've seen
on tv, many people lost not only entire roofs but their homes as well.
We've been pretty much in survival mode since we got home. Milk,
bread, eggs, meat, etc. is quite difficult to find. Street lights are
still down. Many people still do not have power and are using
generators. Schools here in Brevard county are out until Monday of
next week and my husband who works at the Kennedy Space Center was
told not to report back to work until next week due to the extensive
damage to the Vehicle Assembly Building.
All I can do now is pray that Hurricane Ivan does not hit us even
though the latest projected path brings it directly over us by next
Tuesday.

I'm so glad to hear you guys made it through Frances. That doesn't sound
like minor damage but at least it is damage and not a complete wipe out.
I didn't bother to check on Ivan this morning but I think I heard it is a
category 5??? I think it needs to just spin itself out and die! I think
we've all had enough rain, wind and damage to last for several years. You
and your hubby have had enough - you don't need more from Ivan!
