Hi all

My luprin injections in Oct 03 and Mar 04 lasted for 4 months each and I am
keen to get back into IT with a fall in oestrogen and a rise in my
testosterone. BUT now in mid Aug 04 my tests show the Testosterone level to
be at 1.2 when the norm is 8. to 27.

How long must I wait before I am normal again??.

I had two Lupron injections, one intended to be 30 days,
followed by a second one intended to last 90 days, or
4 months total.  For me, the actual effects lasted about
6 months.  At the end of about 5 months my testosterone
was just barely beginning to move up.  At about 6 months
it was back in the low normal range.  Shortly after that it
was back to full normal.

If you are like me, you are probably just now starting
to rise and in a month or two everything will be back
to normal.  But it does vary from individual to individual.

Incidentally, your PSA will likely go up when the Lupron
wears off.  Right now your <.1 PSA is being held low
by the effects of the Lupron.  When the Lupron wears
off, the PSA will probably begin to rise.  It may take
3-6 months after the end of the Lupron effect before
you get an accurate, non-Lupron influenced PSA
reading.  However, a rise doesn't mean your
treatment has failed.  It is normal for radiation
patients to have some PSA after treatment.  As
long as the it does not keep rising or go above
a relatively low level, you're still okay.
