Operated on?? He mentions being "surged and RP" in the same sentence.
Sorry, I mean I'm going under the surgery 16th august and during the RP they
'll make the transplant of nerve.
About the chemio before the RP, I know that is not usual because the gold
standard is ,first surgery and than the chemio. According with the
Dr Urologist, Dr Oncologist and Dr Surgeon we done this. First of all try to
decreasing the area of PCa because the it was at the border of prostate
and
than the surgery hoping to save at least one nerve. I have spoked with other
Doctors and the answer always the same:" RP and nerves away".
For them the important is: Saving lives, for me is important saving my life
but also try to "saving my quality of life". So doing this, in the future,
I'll dont have
any doubt about my choice.

Patric Walsh, in his Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer, frowns on using
hormone therapy to reduce the size of the prostate before surgery. He
thinks it could mislead the surgeon about the extent of the cancer. But
I am not a physician and I'm only telling you what I read in a book.
Your case may have some special features, which oly your doctors may
know about. Also, they may disagree with Walsh or they may think in
your case they can avoid being misled about the extent of the cancer.
Perhaps you should ask them about it.

It may also be that Walsh is of a different mind now. It's been 5 years
since he put the pen down on that book (or stowed the keyboard). I wonder
what his thinking is now about things after so many findings in the last
half-decade.
