On June 2 I received 83 Pd103 seeds with no significant discomfort, only
the minor inconvenience of a Foley for a couple of days. Near the third week
I started to develop some urinary retention and urgency that was helped by
an increase in the dosage of Cardura that I take for BP (no Flowmax, they're
similar drugs).
I still experience some urgency and frequency during the night, getting up
several times only to pee a shot glass full, however, once I'm up for the
day and walking, things become normal. I've come to the conclusion that
walking is not only good advice for those who have had surgery, but for
everyone. I'm still on Lupron for a couple of months so no PSA tests yet. I
don't know what I'm looking forward to more, stopping the Lupron or the
first PSA test.

Had 85 Iodine 125 inserted 4/13, in at 7 AM out by 2 PM. Went home
with some pain meds and flomax. No major problems of any sort. Was
out mowing on my garden tractor two days later. ( I mow 5 acres) A
little urinary pain. Getting up to urinate 3 times a night. Mid June
started having diarrhea problems. Oncologist suggested 2 Imodium
tablets a day plus two Metamucil wafers. I now go like some clockwork
toy every other morning, giant B.M. but still have an "urge" to go.
Prior to seeds PSA 6.07, recent test 1.7. I'm 69 years old

That often takes a while to clear up. But within a couple
of months I would think you'll be back to normal.
The problem is caused by inflammation of the tissues,
including the prostate itself, around the urethra.
Eventually it subsides. Besides the cardura, other
things that might help are anti-inflammatories, e.g.,
aspirin or ibuprofen (but check with the doctor that
prescribed cardura to be sure that's okay) and,
possibly, ice applied to the perineum.
Good luck,
Alan
