Before my operation 18 months ago I was using Viagra.  After effects were
flushed face, blue haze and slight headache. Now that I may be able to start
getting erections I am wondering what the results are of the two new
drugs.TIA

I have heard that some men have leg pain with Cialis, and the side
effects last as long as the pill is supposed to be effective.  In my
case it did nothing.  Same with Viagra.  My uro said Levitra works the
same way as Viagra, so if Viagra does not do the trick Levitra will
not either.  The blue haze is interesting though, isn't it?

Good luck.

I use viagra frequently, and I've tried Cialis.  It is hard for me to
tell because my erections vary from fine unaided to just usable with
help, so I can't tell how much is me and how much is the drug.  My
general impression is that Viagra works a little better, but that Cialis
does live up to its promise of being longer lasting.  In my case, it
certainly seems to last through the next day and on one occasion may
have worked the day after that.

With Viagra I originally had a mild headache and saw the blue haze, but
those side effects have disappeared with continued use.  Cialis is
supposed to produce the same side effects and may also in a small number
of cases produce some muscle aches after about 24 hours.  Since I
ordinarily have lots of aches anyway, I'm not sure if that happened to
me or not.  If so, it wasn't anything dramatic.

I tried both Viagra and Cialis prior to my RRP.  I found viagra gave me side
effects that I didn't care for - flush face primarily.  Also, it made me so
hard, it was a bit uncomfortable.  I also tried Cialis and found it to be
much more natural feeling without any side effects.  Since my cath was
removed -(June 28th) I've been taking one half a Cialis every other day - no
side effects and I began to get erections 4 days after starting to take the
stuff.  Gonna try a whole one tonight and try to make some whoopee!!

Go For It! You'll never know unless you try.

So far my husband prefers the Cialas because it doesn't seem to produce the
headache and blue haze. But we think my husband had some physical damage so
even with the Cialas he wasn't achieving a complete erection. Maybe I'll get
him to try some Cialas with the pump. The pump is working better than
anything so far and we seem to be straightening out the damage. <g> I think
it is better because you don't have to worry about when you use it, as in if
a grandchild comes to visit unexpectedly on a Saturday morning. :-)

I've tried all three and Viagra works the best for me.  I can get a
barely usable but still not really satisfactory erection with Viagra
(say 80% of the old days).  Levitra slightly less and Cialis virtually
nothing.  One experience with Cialis involved back pain.  I had
strained my back a few days before using Cialis but the pain had
resolved by the time I took the drug.  The next day, the pain returned
and lasted for another couple of days with no reason for it to return
except possibly as a side effect of the Cialis.  I have also
discovered that Viagra lasts longer for me than advertised.  If I take
it in the morning one day, the next morning I can still get a partial
though non-usable erection.  I have also discovered that the maximum
erectile benefit coincides with the maximum blue haze effect.  If the
blue haze hits at 15 minutes, that's the time to "go for it", not wait
for a half-hour or an hour as suggested by the literature.

I have not tried overdosing ("off lable dose" as my doctor calls it -
something many of his patients do) but I may try 150 mg of Viagra.
Little life down there with no Viagra one year, almost to the day,
post-op.

My urologist told me that the muscle pain associated with Cialis is not
related to typical kinds of back pain.   Back pain can return after it
appears to have resolved, even with no apparent reason.  That happens to
me with some frequency.

Cialis gave me really bad headaches for the first three hours then
that goes away and life was somewhat good.  Levitra worked about 50%
but I agree on the "blue haze=go" of Viagra.  I have suspended use of
these while on this Lupron.  However once it wears off...

It's easy to get free samples of all 3 to try. Just ask your docs.

I think I'm the only one that reports that Levitra made me feel awful
for hours. Viagra had milder symptoms.

Having tried all three extensively, Cialis works best for me.  (Prostate
removed 9/01).  Fewer side affects and helps things to work more naturally
over an extended period of time.  I still rely on injections for a quick
sure thing, however.  From the replies, everyone reacts differently!  Good
luck.

In our case, my husband and I prefer cialis as it does last longer than the
others and it actually works for us.  He has tried Viagra and Levitra.
They help a little if they halp at all.  I can't tell you which would work
best for you, but I can tell you that I am now a happy woman.

Thirteen months post op, age 57, and the drugs do nothing except the
stuffy nose from Viagra.  Thankfully no side effects from Cialis.
Wife has vibrator - seems happy.
