Results from my first post-op (11 weeks) PSA test yesterday show < 0.01,
great news.
Next step is to stop the leaking. Down to 3 pads a day (morning,
afternoon, evening/night), manageable but looking forward to not having
to use at all. It's annoying that mensrooms don't have disposal
facilities, I carry some nappy disposal bags for used pads and just
throw into a convenient waste bin.

Sounds like you're progressing very well, Dave.
My RRP was performed on March 29 -- 3 1/2 weeks after yours. My first
post-op PSA (7 weeks) was 0.03. Equally good news was that the cancer was
contained. Negative margins, lymph glands negative, no invasion of the
seminal vesicles. PSA 5.94 Gleason 7.
I'm at 4 to 6 pads a day depending on my level of activity. Mowing the lawn
or taking my daily 2 mile walk easily kills a pad. Did both today so it's a
6 pack day : ) On the other hand my night pad takes care of me for almost
12 hours (11pm to 11am.) I do see noticeble progress, however. Hopefully
at three months (June 28) I'll be down to 3 or less pads.
Interestingly, I read different stats regarding the recovery of continence
pace. Walsh's book cites a John Hopkins study stating that "almost 50%" of
men are continent at three months. Many, if not most, other sources state
that "most men" are continent at three months, however I haven't seen one
of these cite a study so I'm leaning towards Walsh's figures.
In any case it's comforting to see steady progress regardless of the elapsed
time.
Come to think of it this IS your three month point. Personally, I'd accept
3 pads and shoot for 1-2 at four months.
Good Luck!
Don
PS- You're absolutely correct regarding the lack of trash cans in mens
rooms. Bet the ladies have 'em for their pads : )

Hi Dave
It took me 3 1/2 mos. before I didn't have to wear anymore pads after my
LRP. Hope you the same success.
