Anyone fluent and knowledgeable available for a wife? If you're male but fit the other criteria, I suppose you could pretend - just to get information and share information which might be helpful to her and her husband. If you find out, he's endstage or advanced and feel she's better off with us, tell her to keep posting on alt.support.cancer, we'll try to help as best as we can, but I have to know what the situation is first. (Nobody there speaks Spanish as far as I can tell, who is knowledgeable about prostate cancer). She posted here last year (Sept) in English looking for other wives (I think to e-mail with). About a week later, she posted to alt.support.cancer I tried to ask her questions, but no reply came back and maybe she doesn't understand newsgroups (wants e-mail?) or doesn't understand English? Or can't answer my questions in English? I tried to refer her back here .. he's on various medications (but did not specify) asking about reasons for confusion - I told her it could be the cancer, could be the medicines, or other) - I tried to refer her back here. (she did not post here again). Then Jan/04 she reposted on alt.support.cancer asking about odour and diabetic 1 (insulin) he is 70 and prostate cancer. He's had prostate cancer for 2 years. I have no idea if he's getting good care nor what surgery, treatments, stage. They're in Australia and some places are remote (not necessarily the best medical care) and/or some get scooped up by "altie doctors" there. When I look at the NCI web page it has a Spanish version, but also speaks about "watchful waiting". So I checked sci.med.prostate.cancer for Spanish and/or general posting activity and this one seems better. (I've seen some Fernandos on this newsgroup) I checked newsgroup es.charla.enfermedad.cancer (doesn't seem to be much there about prostate cancer - I'm not so sure she'll get good information there). I'm back where she started - here ! asking if someone can take her on as a project, to find out more. Here's her latest post from alt.support.cancer (I told her rising psa could mean the cancer is spreading (I also realize it can just be inflammation) and asked her for more information about surgery/treatments - again no reply)... Thank you J - alt.support.cancer J, I know less than 100 words in Spanish, so I am not the best person for the job. We have a few Floridians and Texans that might speak it. And, we have a few who speak it as their native language and do pretty well in English. However, if none of them come to plate and offer their services, I have a female manager who works for me that would probably be happy to be an intermediary. But that would be a longer process, of course. She speaks fluent English and was born in Puerto Rico. Just keep that in mind if nothing else pops up. SRK J, That surname does not sound Spanish, and I see elsewhere on line that it is definitely associated with the island of Malta. All I know about the Maltese language is that it is a form of Arabic, with words borrowed from Italian. So if any of the wives want to correspond with her, suggest they just use English and let her work it out on her end. But she is not using a "spanish keyboard".....one would think she would if that is her language. But the keyboard is really quite different than ours....drove me nuts in Spain. I was thinking Argentina for some strange reason. I also forgot to mention that I didn't think that was a valid Aussie address...I have quite a few Aussies on my British Genealogy Lists and I have never heard of that ISP. I did run the IP number thru a tracer and it is in Adelaide, Australia. But it could be the news reader if she is using one. Hopefully, you will be able to contact her via the spanish news group. When I google searched es.charla.enfermedad.cancer, I could not find the words "prostate" nor "prostata", but I did see that you are active on that newsgroup, so I thought you had another type of cancer or was a "greeter" type of poster (hope you understand). Are there others there with prostate cancer? I'm glad to see that you've been lurking here. Oh, I did want to add that I hope she doesn't think that because I asked for help here, that she is not welcome on alt.support.cancer? If and when she needs us, we will be there for her as best we can. (given the language barrier). Or does es.charla.enfermedad.cancer help with end-of-life issues too? (sorry for all the questions).
