Hi Folks,
I just got home about an hour ago following brachytherapy this AM. All
seemed to go well and I sure appreciated that first cup of coffee. looks
like I'll have the Foley leash until Fri., they might be good for beer
drinkers, you'd never have to get up. All kidding aside, I'm happy to
finally have the procedure done, it's been six months on Lupron preceding
the seeds in order to reduce the prostate size and one more to follow. The
logic for the follow up injection is to maintain the castrate level of
testosterone until the seeds have had a chance to begin acting.

Hi, Tom....
So glad to hear you have the procedure behind you! Now you can spend all
your time working on recovery! Good feeling, isn't it?
To me, the foley was more of an aggravation than a painful experience. It
will be gone soon enough.
Take care.... get some rest for a few days... then get back to the business
of living and making plans for the future!

Thanks Mike,
I feel pretty I feel pretty good after a little nap and some food. A
visiting nurse stopped by and will be back on Fri. and remove the excess
plumbing if there are no problems. One thing I did notice is that the
velcro/elastic leg band has a tendency to slip down and allow a little
tugging, that only had to happen once before the tape came out of the
closet.

Hi Tom,
Glad you are doing so well. I will be going in for the seeds on June 10. I
had a pre-implant blood draw yesterday and the results showed low blood
sugar. Doc directed me to get checked out by my family physician to get the
all clear. I had been feeling a little sluggish. Maybe that was the reason.
After he called and told me about it, I drank a couple of glasses of orange
juice and felt much better.
How are you at peeing? Any discomfort? I understand many have that problem.
Hope all is OK with you.

Hi Larry,
Base on my experience, the worst will be your waiting through the next week.
I haven't had any urinary difficulty yet because I've got a catheter for a
couple of days, I don't know what will occur after it's removed. In all that
I've read or heard, no one has mentioned use of a catheter in connection
with a seed implant unless a problem developed. The team that treated me
stated that in order to avoid potential early problems it has become a
standard procedure within that group. We'll see what happens when the
temporary plumbing is removed on Fri.
Wish you the best,
Tom
