Hi,

Two three years ago, my PSA level went up to 69 and the Doctor got it
investigated.

He found infection and that was treated with antibiotics.  I also used
garlic as extra treatment and it worked.

The PSA count came down to 6.1. last year but this year it has gone to
9.1.

Doctor did get ultrasound, samples of prostate gland taken for Cancer,
etc but did not find any trace of it.

Sometimes I would get restricted flow of urine with pain but on other
occasion, it is normal flow with no pain.

Now, the urine flow is normal.  I take one tablet of Cardura XL 4mg. at
night.  Doctor says it is good for flow of blood to prostate gland.

I am going for a further examinations and your views are welcome.

I am 71 years old with good health.  I play tennis and go to gym every
evening.  I feel a little down and it could be due to cold at present.
A bit below normal health but nothing worrying.

I am a retired lecturer but take active part in gardening too.

Hi, Rajinder...

How long ago was your biopsy with ultrasound??
Many of us here went through more than one biopsy before our cancer was
found.
Sometimes the needle just doesn't hit the right spot.
I hope you will follow up with another biopsy in six months if the PSA is
still elevated.

Take care,
MikeH

Hi.

The tests were done in January, 2001 and they were all negative.

PSA went down quick from 69 to 22 within six months and then 12 or so
then 7.2 and 6.1 last year when they stopped further investigation that
it was an infection.

I would want another biopsy.... but that's just my opinion.  I'm certainly
not a doctor.  Obviously, there was some infection involved if your PSA
dropped back down so dramatically.  But 6.1 would still be too high for me
to be comfortable with.

My PSA was up to 13.9 at one point.... then back down to about 8.1 after
antibiotics... I asked for the second biopsy one year following the first
one.  One of 10 core samples was positive for PCa.

Best wishes to you!

Greetings, do keep an eye on those numbers. My supervisor had above
normal numbers and I referred him to my uro clinic, where they found
PCa and he had a RRP soon afterwards. Hope it's nothing tho' in your
case.
