Out of habit I'm up fairly early in the AM and turn on the tube for early
news and weather, without fail there is an infomercial on at least a couple
of channels for the "Super Prostate Formula" and the amazing "Super Libido
Formula". I can't help but wonder how many men buy this stuff believing that
it's a panacea for all their prostate problems and consequently mask the
real problem. Sales must be good, because even at AM TV time is not cheap.
Now I'll get off my soapbox.

"Super Prostate Formula" and the amazing "Super Libido Formula".
hi tom - that's a very good point!!!!

men say that women are will buy certain items.  look at what the men are
buying now.  everything from the super stuff to anything that will
promise to bring back the youth to an aging male.  and these companies
have done their homework.  they know that a certain per cent of the men
won't say a word about getting ripped off because they don't want anyone
else to know that they were the fool for purchasing the product.

i have noticed that talking with other men, they are not very
knowledgable of what's going on in their bodies.  these men will tell me
that they go to the doctor every 6 months or a year, but when you talk
to them, it is like these men have given the health care person total
control of their health care.  that's scary!!!!   they only see this
person once or twice a year and their life may depend on the care
person, because the individual won't do what it takes, to take charge of
their own life.

i will use the example of my own father.  even AFTER the doctor had him
on watchful waiting with his pca,  my dad was buying various products
that would promote prostate health and sexual energy.  i found the
bottles after he passed away.  from the date on the bottle, i would say
that my dad had known that he had cancer for at least two years, and
yet, these products were masking the psa readings that were so vital for
the care of the his health.

knowledge is power - growing old is mandatory - growing wise is optional

This and products like this (saw palmetto, selenium, Vit. E, etc.) are
probably OK and somewhat beneficial for men w/ no prostate problems or
perhaps a little BPH. The problem I have w/ the marketing is that they
draw a link between BPH and PCa, which I do not think is accurate.
They are clearly sold as helping avoid PCa and I think are, therefore,
misleading. Not to mention that they can keep PSA artificially low and
indeed mask true PCa. BTW some hair-growing products can do the same
thing.

Saw Palmetto can keep PSA artificially lower.  I don't think Selennium or
Vit E can.

Sorry, I meant to be suggesting common ingredients of such products
not each ingredient on its own.
