A while back I had commented that when I was dx'd with pca I had spoken to
both of my brothers(both younger) , one had a physical almost immediately
while the other chose to take the "ostrich approach"and hide his head in the
sand. Following  a very active weekend with personal watercraft, he
apparently had enough discomfort to see his family Dr. The DRE was fine and
we're praying that the PSA turns out good.

I advised my younger brother (age 36) to be mindful to have the Air
Force do PSA screening as he gets close to 39 and then regularly as
his doctor recommends. Once I find where my ex has taken my 15 yr. old
son, I hope to make him aware that he's probably at a higher risk for
PCa than normal.

After I was diagnosed (age 47, PSA 4.7, Gleason 6 Stage T2c) I sugggested
that my brother have his PSA checked.  He's 51 and had previously had it
checked about 1.5 years prior.  At that time his PSA was 2.3.  His PSA now
came in at 3.05.  Given that I've got PCa, his Dr. suggested a biopsy.  It
came back malignant.  He had his surgery on Monday - the Dr. says it went
well.  My brother was up and walking the day of his surgery, left the
hospital on Wednesday and just told me that he and his wife just got back
from a visit to the local bookstore.  He has stopped taking his pain meds
and is feeling pretty good - he gets tired very easily.  The catheter comes
out next Thursday.
