The first week in June, I get my third Lupron shot. The first was a 30
day jab in December, the second a 4mos injection, as will the one in a
couple of weeks.  When I had the first (December) shot I was at almost
30 PSA.  29 and change.  At PSA for the February jab it had plummeted
to a 1.7.  Now I'm sweating out June PSA test and shot which occur
right about my 76th.  I was dx'd about 8 years ago (I don't keep many
records except PSA numbers),, The DRE was  negative but a biopsy
confirmed it.  I opted for IBRT and the PhD radiologist told me with a
PSA of less than ten, he would 'guarantee' I'd not die of PCa, just
with it, as they say in this NG. This all is occurring in San Diego
which has very good medial resources and famous doctors like Salk.
And of course, Dr. Suess too.
I've had the usual side effects. especially hot flashes but they are
diminishing and I've never been really incontinent but running water
would make me get a move on. Always make sure you pee before you wash
the dishes!
My PCP has given my an Rx for up to 4 Tylenol 3/w Codeine per day.
Those cause constipation as you know, so it's laxative time for that.
Don't suggest water, I slosh now. I'll probably become laxative
dependent, but what the helll at 76 why worry about that,
I've been looking in at this group for a long time and consider
I've been above average in 'luck'  with treatment.  I still have all
my marbles, live alone with no assistance and usually am in a fair
humor. I know in this group there are many with, or related to those,
with,  far worse conditions.
My worst is in the AM.  I don't know if that pain is from the PCa or
arthritis, but it can be excruciating the first couple of hours.
We must remember that most of us in the NG in their 6th or 7th
decade almost certainly have some concurrent medical problems.
Sorting them into priority is also a necessity.
I hope all of yours are manageable.

It sounds like your reaction to the Lupron is very good.
That's a good sign.  I wish you the best of luck with it.

I respect Dr. Salk, but I have to say my favorite doctor
was Seuss.

In one of his books, _You're Only Old Once: A Book for
Obsolete Children_, he goes to the doctor and gets prodded
and stuck, examined from head to toe, and subjected to
every kind of indignity.

His conclusion: "I'm in pretty good shape for the shape
that I'm in."

I guess that's what we're all hoping for.

There was a time that I could recite the Sleep Book from memory.  My kids
loved Suess.

Let's see.... The word is just in from the County of Keck, ....

Hi, Sando....
Glad you came out of lurking to share your story.  Sounds like the Lupron
really did a number (pun intended :P) on your PSA!!  I wish you much
continued success with it!  I also appreciated your sense of humor.  We can
never get too much laughter and lightness in our lives!

Take care!

My mom is 72 and has pain like that.  Unless you have tumors, I doubt it's
PCa.
