Thanks to all of you for your thoughts, best wishes and prayers. Just
returned fron the URO and my PSA is <.01...............................Y'all
said it *would* be, but I know y'all have been in the same position....a bit
skiddish until the actual report. Now, I just have to follow thru with the
quarterly PSA tests.....and I will.
I know some of you *HATE* it when someone gets on his soapbox about certain
procedures, and I shouldn't wish to offend anyone in the group by doing so,
but please allow me to boast a minute......(I think I'm due).... My first
PSA was 6.5 late in 2003. A second PSA in December (2003) showed a rise to
6.7 and a subsequent biopsy revealed two out of twelve cores positive and a
third was "suspicious" (Gleason 3+3=6). Thru discussions with the URO we
(my loving wife and I) elected to go with Robotic LRP (performed 3/26/04)
Post-op gleason was 3+4=7.
I won't go thru the hospital stay, nor the two weeks post-op.....I've posted
THAT before, but suffice to say the surgeon was quite pleased that I've been
CONTINENT for over six weeks. The thing that's amazing (to me) is that over
the week-end we had a water main burst. The leak was on OUR side of the
meter.....our resposibility.
Well, we ain't got the money for a professional (not to mention a Sunday
A.M. call), so I.....ME.....*MYSELF* got out there at 6 A.M. and dug to the
main line leak.....two feet down and about four feet across.....I gotta tell
y'all.....it kicked my a.s, BUT I did it. I fixed it myself. ME....eight
weeks post-op.
I'm damned well sore (as well I should be), but ain't it wonderful?
At the risk of pissin' some of you off.....(not my intention)...the
procedure worked for me! And anyone who asks, I would recommend it (for
those in similar circumstances and scores of course).
Hey!!!! Right now, I'm a happy man and I appreciate the opportunity to use
this forum to celebrate!

hi jeff - that's really great to hear that you are doing so well.
i feel that you should get out there and do what you feel like doing. i
remember being 10 days post op and helping my son where i could to
replace the head gasket on the riding mower.
i was planting flowers two weeks after the surgery with catheter in
place.
and took a 600 mile trip three weeks after post op. and still had the
catheter still in.
after all that, it was spring time and the branches on the tree needed
to be pruned back, so off i went and it did what you said, "it kicked my
a.s." after 30 minutes, my was exhausted. i came in and laid down and
took a 90 minutes nap. but it felt so good to be alive.

Jeff:
Great news!!!
My husband is also doing very well, (LRP 3-15-04)and I am almost
embarassed to to talk about it here. It is almost like nothing ever
happened. Still has a small amount of leaking when tired but
otherwise doing great.

Yeah, then that's about right for digging up old plumbing.

Yippee!!!!!! We love hearing about those low PSA scores!!
I just want to know why it is the stuff always breaks on our side? Even when
the sewer line was clogged in the middle of the d*mn street it was our
problem because this old house didn't have an access for the city to clear
the darn thing? Guess who got to put one in? And since we have a slow leak
of city water on their side of the water meter we can't get them to fix it.
Go figure!!
Honestly, the repairing the pipes for plumbing is so easy - the problem is
they are either buried underground, hidden between walls or in some spot
under the house where you'd have to be the size of and as flexible as a
black snake to reach. We now have to repaint the living room ceiling - but
the leak is fixed.

Share the pain Bev:
We live in a townhouse and turned the streets over to the city a
couple of years ago. Turns out, among other things, that the sewers
were put in wrong (some expect the sewage to flow uphill) so the city
would not accept responsibility (yes, how did it all pass
inspection???). There will be a special assessment that the
homeowners will have to pay over a ten year period to fix the sewers
and the other street repairs. We do not even know yet how much it
will be! More good news....

Great news to you Jeff. I've just found out about my prostate being
cancerious and have to face what you have already done. Bummer! I'm
wondering where you had LPR, as I am interested in the same treatment. It
sounds like it all went well for you. Any info would be appreciated here.
Thanks and good luck in the future. Craig
