Trying another shot at this problem.  The last thread never touched on
the problem.

I am 71 years old and 4 years out of seeding for prostate cancer.  My
PSA is less than .01 and the uro says everything feels OK.  Three
months ago, I started having blood in my ejaculate and went to the
uro.

He suspected infection ( prostatitis) and put me on Levaquin for two
weeks.  Three months later I am still having the same amount of blood.
Everyone says, "Don't worry, it's nothing."

But I am bleeding and making a mess all the time.  I am ready for it
to be over.  Both the uro and my  primary care physician assure me
that it will just go away.  They don't know when.

Does anyone have any experience?

Is this after a biopsy or are you well into other treatments?  Blood in the
ejaculate is almost universal after prostate biopsy.  If this is out of the
blue, get thee to a physician...

hi sherwin - first of all,  i haven't heard of anyone who had seeding,
low psa, and blood in ejaculate all rolled into one sentence.

now  some questions that came to mind.

1. have you have an analysis ran to see if there is anything in the
semen that would give a clue as to the origin of the source of blood.

2. levaquin is a very strong and very narrow band antibiotic. so, if it
didn't work, then that should be another piece to the puzzle.

3.  how much blood is in the semen?  there's a lot when it comes to
range.  are we talking a small amount of streaking to where the
ejaculate is blood red?  is it very liquid or are we talking catsup?
quite a range.

4. time.  3 months is long enough.  i would start pounding on some doors
for some answers.  you have passed the usual time of waiting for it to
clear up or at least see a change.

5. push.  press for more tests and more answers.  i, for one, feel that
it is up to the individual to take charge of your own health.  when you
trust your health to others and it doesn't appear that the job is
getting done, then take over and as the old saying goes, "git r done"

hope this helps.

Sherwin:
Cannot give you a direct answer, sorry, but I would definitely not
ignore this.  Suggest you check other alternatives, WebMD, other prostate
ng's, get another opinion from a different urologist, or maybe do some web
searches for centers that do the seeding and send them an email message
asking for advice.  Make some noise.  Get some answers.  If anyone here had
the same experience they would have chimed in by now.  That's what we do.
   Good luck to you.
   Thank you.

I had external beam radiation (24 sessions) then seeding. My only comment
is .What ejaculate? PSA ,continence and all else is going well.I am 72.I
wouldn't mind a little blood in my ejaculate.A lurker who posts rarely

Get another opinion. One you shouldn't have any ejaculate and blood to me
would mean there is a problem someplace.
