I had my right foot amputated in 1990 due to diabetes. In 1998 I had a toe
amputated from my left foot. In 2000 I had my left leg amutated below the
knee. I walk fine with two prosthetic legs. I'm 61 years old. I had my RP
in March of 2002. There is some residual cancer left on my bladder neck.
Neither my urologist nor my oncologist mentioned anything about readiation.
I am now undergoing radiation for mild skin cancer.
As soon as this is through and after a week's break I am going to undergo
radiation for the residual cancer. If it's two late to make a difference
then I'll continue with Zoladex which for 15 months has kept my PSA at <.1.
Why am I posting this. To show that someone with a life threatening
disease( or diseases) can still live a fairly normal life as I do. I get
up every morning in a good frame of mind and learned long ago to not worry
or be scared.
Luckily I am a very devout, non preaching, Christian who believes the words
to an old southern gospel song "This world is not my home I'm just passing
through...".
Keep ypur chin (or chins) up. What's going to happen is going to happen.
Try not to scare your wife and children by verbally worrying in front of
them. If you worry or are scared you don't have to keep it to yourself use
this NG or confide gently to your wife or find some sort of group you can
join. There are many.
Best wishes for a long life.

I just noticed the completely unintentional mis-spelling of diseases as the
subject.
sorry

Yeah!
What can I say. I am passing through also, and I have to tell you passing
through, is like getting born!
Keep your chin up too,

You're certainly living a rough life. You are an inspiration.
Of course, you are absolutely correct that 60 years, 46 years, or even 81
years, is a really small portion of eternity.
