I have couple of new after sugery questions.  Surgery 3/30

Did anyone experience scrotum swelling?

Was the first bowel a bad or ok experience?

Not me, but I think some do.

I'd say yes it was a concern.  The first one is most likely to be
troublesome, don't worry about it, unless you really feel there's
something haywire, if so you should contact your doc.  Most of the cases
I think everyone gets back to normal after a few days.

Scrotum swelled up like two apples.  Tera -- God love her -- took very good
care of them with ice packs.  From what I understand, it's from lymph
gravitating towards the scrotum until it finds another route out due to
lymph glands being removed for biopsy.  My scrotem went down in a couple of
days.

Yes it happened to me.  Lasted about a week -- my uro told me about it
beforehand so I was not concerned.

> Was the first bowel a bad or ok experience?
No problems.

Nutybuddy, is your name prophetic? I'm a nutty buddy now, having had 122
seeds implanted on March 24. Although the swelling and purplish
discoloration have been reduced, my scrotum and my penis were swollen
and discolored and extremely uncomfortable. My penis seemed to be
somebody else's until I had to urinate, then the burning sensation made
it unmistakably mine! My testicles are not as swollen as they were, but
it does seem that there is pooled blood in the scrotum sac. I should
have expected some visible effects of the surgical trauma, but I don't
know if any of the condition I described is caused by the radioactivity
or not. I'm glad you asked! Nothing the doctor said led me to expect
these developments, nor had I read about them with any degree of
particularity
in the brachytherapy literature.

pooled about a 2 inch spot on floor.  happened at 10:30 on a friday
night.  was 150 miles from where hospital and doctor did surgery.
called, and doctor returned call within 5 minutes.  said it was normal.

Curtis,

Haven't you figured out yet what it means when a doctor says
"that's normal"?

It can mean, "(I don't know what's wrong.  I have no idea what to do
about it.  But I don't think he's going to die.)  - Why that's normal
Curtis.  Happens to a lot of guys."

Or alternatively it can mean, "(Damn!  I screwed up on that one.
But let's put a brave face on it.) - Well Curtis, that's perfectly
normal.

I agree.  I can't imagine, absent hemmorhoids, what could possibly cause
that without an errant cut to the colon or something.

Yes, I surely did have scrotum swelling. It is amazing how large it
can get. The swelling began a few days after surgery and lasted over
two weeks. I called the doctor and was told it frequently happens. One
day it was slightly better and the next day it was gone.(The swelling
that is.)

The first bowel movements had me worried but were not particularly
bad. My doctor had me on mineral oil in the morning and a little milk
of magnesia in the evening for a while after surgery to assure there
was no damage during early recovery.

You will get over all this quickly. I have felt great for months. I
had my surgery this past August.

Answer to the first question - can you say grapefruits?
Second - trivial for the bowel movement - stool softeners I'm sure
helped alot.

Swelling? Like unto Elsie the under-milked cow!
I went to see the Doc, and he said "Yeah, that happens to some guys ---
get a jock strap." Seems that in the absence of tight undergarments, the
lymphatic fluids hunt for a place to accumulate, and that's a DANDY
place! I had no idea my skin could stretch that much!

I got rather concerned about the length of time before my first bowel
movement (4 days!), but my wife reminded me that I was cleaned out and
it takes a while to get everything functioning again. I stuffed prunes
(sorry image people, dried plums) and eventually they worked their magic
and it was a good experience.
