hi folks - here's just a thought to make one go h-u-u-u-mmm.

breast cancer and prostate cancer behave in similar fashion, growth
patterns and treatments are similar.

tonight on the news, in the health portion, scientists has definitely
have shown a link between being 20 lbs over weight and the increase of
breast cancer.  increasing being over weight increases the chances even
more of breast cancer.

the point to ponder is this......would this hold true for prostate
cancer?

we have talked quite a bit about diet and prostate cancer and foods rich
in fats was one that should be avoided, but it wonder how many of us are
over weight?

here's another point to ponder.  as we hit middle age, we grow the bread
basket and pack on the weight.  since prostate cancer happens usually in
the upper middle age years, does one wonder if the middle age spread had
something to do with it?  i'm sure there are thin men who get pca too,
just as thin women get breast cancer.

as for myself, i will volunteer and say that i was way over my idea
weight.  did i cause my problem???  a point to ponder.

anybody else??

Great Curtis, now I have to worry about getting breast cancer too!?

Just kidding.  I am afraid that I qualify as being 20 lbs or more over
weight.

Men do get breast cancer.  I don't know if those of us on HT have an
increased risk or not.

Good question.  I know of several men who have had breast cancer......and if
estrogen increases my chances as a female.....will HT increase yours?

The most famous one is probably Richard Roundtree, the actor that played
Shaft back in the 70's.

I'm 6'6" and at time of Dx was about 300 pounds.  Technically, that's 80
over my ideal weight, but I'm allowed something off for big bones and
slightly more than average muscle.

My dad was 6'0" and 160 from the time he got out of the Marine Corps (and
Korea) until a few months before he died.

I was Dx'd at 46 and he was Dx'd at 42.  Considering we have the same PCa
gene, that's a reasonable comparison.  Of course, there are still a ton of
variables, including that he smoked.  I stopped smoking when I realized it
was stunting my growth.

I am 5'7" and have never weighed more than about 150 lbs.
I eat a fairly well balanced diet.  I exercise a lot.  There is
no PCa in my family that I'm aware of.

I think I just ran into the wrong end of Murphy's Law.

Chris is about 5'10'' (he claims 5'11") and weighs 150 lbs. He weighed
almost 20 pounds more when we lived in New York City before we hit the
healthy northwest lifestyle. His brother has always been in great shape.
Looks like bad genes and bad luck here.
