<
The national average for persons suffering with Multiple Sclerosis
(MS) is one in 10,000.
<
Luzerne County, therefore, is beating the living crap out of the
statistics concerning the horrific disease..
<
The county, with a population of about 312,000 and inlcuding
Greater Hazleton, had 624 reported cases of MS as of June 2008.
<
Please keep in mind that MS is NOT a required reported disease
through the federal Centers for Disease Control. Consquently,
the 624 reported cases are based only on individuals who are
registered with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
<
The astounding health statisitcs in Luzerne,, especially
the southern portion which includes Hazleton, is direrctly
linked to the chemicals, hazardous waste and deadly
toxins which for years had been dumped in abandoned
anthracite mine shafts, among other places..

<
Another unbelievable health statistic is the existence of 133 cases of
Polycythemia vera (a rare form of cancer) from Freeland to Tamaqua).
The national average is one case in 100,000 persons.so there should
be no more than three or four in the Greater Hazleton area/...
Luzerne County, based on its population, was among the Top 10
counties in the U.S for persons with cancer.(based on its population
of just over 300,000).
<
Hazleton was one of the Top 10 Zip Codes in the U.S. for cancer-
causing air emissions.
<
Meanwhile, a total of some 65,000 cases of lupas were documented
in Pennsylvania's 67 counties in 2001. Of this total, some 10,000
were in Luzerne County alone.
<
Meanwhile, while Greater Hazleton residents are dying
agonizing deaths from cancer -- some of them rare --,
the City of Hazleton is is currently negotiating the sale
(for $3 million) of land to a developer, Hazle Creek
Properties, The land includes the site of the former Hazleton
City Landfill where millions upon millions of toxic waste had
been dumped for decades.
<
Hazle Creek Properties, which already has been dumping
hazardous materials at the former city landfill, apparently has
plans to continue dumping on the site it will acquire before
constructing a housing development and an amphiteathre on it.
<
Residents of Eastern and Southeastern Pennsylvania should
be greatly concerned because the hazardous waste and toxic
chemicals that were dumped by pollutors for decades are slowly
moving underground in their direction.
<
It has been reported that they were discovered as far southeast
as the Blue Mountain more than a decade ago and we can
only wonder how much farther it has traveled since then....
<
Danger areas include Allentown and the entire Lehigh Valley,
Reading, Philadelphia and all southeastern counties, along with
South Jersey and Delaware.

You don't know the half of it
I can tell you that the press has ignored the ramifications of toxic
waste and pollution from coal and dirty energy in this state like no
other . There is no doubt many places in Pa are being poisoned and
have more horrible conditions then average but you think the news
media gives ashi.t?
