2 months ago my Onc saw "something" in my cerebellum. Probably scar tissue from
my first brain mets. Follow-up MRI last week showed no change in the 5 mm
whatever it is. He is sending the pictures to SF and Stanford for 2nd &3rd
opinions. Meanwhile, I am approaching my 5 yr. anniversary next Thursday (May
29). I'll celebrate even though he has not proclaimed me officially NED.
Barbara reminded me that when I got CyberKnife treatment, they saw something in
my cerebellum (site of first mets) and zapped it "just in case." That is
probably the same thing we're looking at here.
More when I hear something.

Gad. You're hilarious, Bob. Wakie, wakie, with the steaming hot coffee.
Resassuring for you both that the scan's being checked by several others.
I'll be here to raise a glass with you on May 29th.
Best,

I haven't specifically asked my onc, but I've never heard him use this
term---a common one here in asc. I wonder if it's regional, or some
other way used by one group of oncs and not another, or what. Only a
short ways into my treatment, he told me I should use past tense
instead of present: "I had cancer" vs. "I have cancer" (though he
encouraged me to finish out the plan), so the concept was certainly
there, just not the term. Since none of my scans showed anything, I
guess I've been NED since the first one. Celebrate away, and you'll
have lots of absent company.

Maybe it was a significant "something" then, but I bet it's just
meaningless scar tissue now.

Good luck, and make that NED official. Please post another pic for
your 10 year anniversary---after your morning cup.
