"Restriction of iron may have positive effects on health in general
and aging in particular"

Galaris D, Mantzaris M, Amorgianiotis C
Oxidative stress and aging: the potential role of iron. [Journal
Article]
Hormones (Athens) 2008 Apr-Jun; 7(2):114-22.

According to the free radical theory of aging proposed by Denham
Harman more than 50 years ago, oxidatively modified cellular
components accumulate continuously in the cells during the organism's
lifespan leading to progressive decline of cellular functions. Since
then, it has been shown that proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and
other
cell components undergo reversible and/or irreversible oxidative
modifications during aging. Moreover, oxidized cell components can
undergo further oxidative modifications leading to formation of
products that cell degradation systems are incapable of removing.
Accumulation of such non-degradable aggregates further inhibits the
functionality of degradation systems, thus aggravating the effects
and
leading to a vicious cycle. In this presentation, we propose that the
availability of intracellular iron in its redox active form (labile
iron) represents the main catalyst that mediates extensive oxidative
modifications of cellular components and ultimately leads to their
accumulation and consequent cellular dysfunction. It is tempting to
speculate that regulated restriction of labile iron may have positive
effects on health in general and aging in particular.

Perhaps somebody could help me here ? Where did ironjustice get the
idea that iron is something forbidden, because of something he read in
the bible ? I mean where in the bible did it warn against the evils of
iron ?

It's in Genesis. Don't you remember? The verse where Sarah
is pressing Abraham's galabiyeh and Abraham is standing
behind her when he tells her that he is taking Hagar as
second wife because of Sarah's infertility and she turns and
belts him across the chops with the iron?

Of course, they left a little out of Genesis 16:2; couldn't
have little Ishmael reading that when he grew up.

Forever more, one of the untold secrets of bar-mitzvah was
that each father passed on to his sons "beware of the iron,
when the wife is pressing the clothes it's time to go to the
pub".

Cheers, Alan

I'll give you a synopsis..

Real short ..

Makes it easy ..

Bible says ..
"Don't kill .. don't eat meat .. if you do .. you will be killed by
disease.
In order to rid yourself of disease you must **give up of your own
blood** and DON'T kill and eat the animals." .

NOW today ?

"Blood donation has been shown to be effective in more diseased people
than any treatment in history."

Cites for all of the above.

The Bible, a book full of blood and gore and bigotry and justified
slavery and discrimination and mass murder and abject failure is not the
place to get scientifically accurate information.

Now, I think I'll go eat some honeycomb and fish.

Now, now, don't get frustrated. His last adminition is rather
humorous. When you eat an animal, all he is saying is, " . . . Don't
kill and eat the animals." Eat and kill!

eat your flesh like fire" ..

It's all interpretation ..

You two should really iron out your differences and not letting it go on
until it gets too bloody.  Perhaps we should lock you two up in a rust-ic
