Hey all;

I'm wondering if any of you have stats or even just anecdotal stories of
the likelihood of getting colds/flus after head and neck radiation ?

I'm not normally one to get sick - Maybe a sniffle or two per year. Over
the last couple of days, though, my nose has been a waterfall, coughing,
headaches, sweats and sleeping all day. I got to thinking: Nose hairs have
all fallen out, several lymph nodes removed, tonsils received radiation -
all those are part of the sickness-fighting part of the body.

Many thanks!

By the by: Looked for my red maple seedling the other day - store told me
I'll have to go to a nursery to have it ordered, since they normally only
sell 5'-10' trees. On my way to the nursery this week :)

How's it going, Marc?

I figure it it's still there (or worse) 48 hours later, it's a cold or
infection.
If it's gone (or improving), it was allergy. Tree pollens are higher in your
area these days.

I never get fever with allergy symptoms.

If you think pollen (or grasses) are involved, close the windows and use a
thin coating of vaseline in your nostril.
The hairs (which you don't have) are supposed to trap the pollens.
There's 2 types of possible infections; fungal or bacterial.

What say you or your doctor?

Nah, I've never had any allergies. Still stuffed up/leaky nose, though no
where near as bad as the weekend.

Overall, doing well. Energy levels are still down and I'm still
experimenting to see what I can taste versus what I can't - It's not *all*
gone, but an awful lot of it is, which still really sucks. Eating is such a
chore when you can't enjoy it :(

Hopefully, that'll improve soon. There's a lot of places where taste comes from
and I doubt the RT hit all of them?

Just found out there's colds and flus "going around" down here, so maybe that
is what's going on with you
Hope you feel better soon, Marc.
J.
