Just Me - 05 Apr 2008 19:42 GMT
I had a scare.  I had my fourth annual checkup and was found
extremely anemic.  The Doctor put me on Aranesp which I describe
as super turbo charged geritol.  Meanwhile, last fall I was put
on Coumadin, which I have had a lot of trouble with.  It all
came to a head after my cancer visit when I began to pass blood
in my stools.  This continued for a couple of days, and I made
an appointment with my primary care doctor so's I could
complain.  I get a blood test, and a INR test which said that my
clotting level (I hope the description is right) was 5.7.  2.5
is supposed to be normal.  I was taken off of the coumadin and 4
days later my blood ceased to hemmohrage (sp).  Meanwhile I was
set up and received a colonoscopy yesterday, and was found not
to have malignancies.  So the whole procedure was a pain in a
place one wouldn't put a band aid.  The bleeding has ceased for
over a week, and next week I will see my electro cardiologist
and fight to keep of the blood thinner.  Maybe I will then see
daylight comfortably again  However, I can boast Cancer Free for
4 years now.

Phew Eddie !  I'm so happy to hear it's not colon cancer.
Thanks for the update and I'm glad they've sorted the meds for you.
Take good care of you.

Ipunty checking in.  Hope this note finds all you fellow cancees in
good health and cheer.  I myself am, surviving the cure, as I like to
say.  It has now been two years since my initial lymph node excision
an the discovery of what turned out to be cancer at the base of my
tongue and in another month that will include the major surgery.  The
treatment has changed me without a doubt.  But happily that has all
been physical.  Mentally I am as I always was albeit a bit more
iridescent thanks to the invention of the cyclotron, particularly
"Encore" the name of the one that gave me 38 doses.  Hmmmm, maybe I
was thinking of effervescent?  Or incandescent?  Oh well, must be
chemo brain or something like that.  Yes, I had chemo too.  The net
result has been that while the physical has changed  and I am aware of
it all of the time, it is tolerable.  What has become intolerable is
the economy, the war in Iraq, and a case of electile dysfunction that
has me worried about our future.  The saddness comes from realizing
that the one I can't change and the other, while I should be able to,
I can't either.  Oh dear, I digress.  Well, it must be chemo brain or
something like that.  No joke <g>.  Take care and stay well and
remember, we're all in this together.  Your fellow carcomaniac, ipunty
