Those of you who have been in asc a while probably know that I'm a
bicycling enthusiast. My diagnosis (stage 3 colon cancer) came just
before I was scheduled to ride in the MS150 (150 mile ride to benefit
Multiple Sclerosis research), and the resultant surgery and chemo had
me a bit out of shape. I'm still cold sensitive (PN), but today was
so nice, I had my first outdoor ride of the season. It was great!
Only an hour, average pulse 140, but still a great break from the
stationary trainer. To those earlier in their recovery, take heart.
We can not only beat cancer in some cases, but can recover our normal
condition afterward. Now watch me get run over by a bus, ending any
further cancer risk.
This year, I'm planning to ride the MS 150 again (now called "Bike
MS"), as well as other organized rides. I fully intend to get into at
least as good shape as I was in before the bad news.

I've told people they should get in shape for cancer. When they get
cancer, it may help them handle the treatment better. If they never
do get cancer, then they're still in shape!
MS is horrible. I have no close friends or family with it, but still
do what I can to help. Plus, it's an excuse to bike 150 to 200 miles
with a bunch of other enthusiasts.

Thanks bunches,
I know a lot of people with MS and research is needed.
Wishing you safe and enjoyable riding.
