Hello everyone,
My son who is 9 years old now was born with a lesion on his scalp. I'm not sure wat the scientific term was but its something like naveous something. Anyway, I was advised to have it removed when he was 5 but since he has not had any complaints about the lesion, we decided to leave it as it is. a month ago, it started to bleed, and we took him to a paeditrician who advised to have it removed. It was removed subsequently but i was informed, when the doctor was removing his stitches 2 weeks later, that they found traces of precancerous cells in his lesion. But he said that theres a possibility that the cells can mutate back to normal cells in time. But its only a possibility. As a mother I;m worried for my son. The doc's explanation does not satisfy my worry. My family has a long history of cancer. Has anyone encounter such problems before and is my worry unfounded?

I could not find this "naveous" that you describe.
when trying to Google search on it.
Pre-cancerous is just that.
Cellular changes that are not cancer.
If you don't feel comfortable with that,
take the child with the pathology report for a 2nd opinion.
I would want my primary care physician to take the child
on as a patient and have a record of the surgery etc
so that it can be followed up yearly.
Take a picture after it has healed and give it to him
when he leaves home or gets married to remind him
to have it checked yearly.
I have nevis on my scalp which tend to bleed if the
brush or comb catches them.
Use care and a softer ended brush.
