Does anyone have any info on the symptoms of bone cancer? I have had increasingly severe pain in my knee, and I have never injured it. The pain is only a problem when I am resting, and, oddly, I can spend hours on my feet and it doesn't really hurt then. It had been coming and going for about a year, and the last 3 months it is increasing in pain and frequency. It is now almost unbearable when it hurts. It doesn't seem to have any respect for weather conditions or anything else that would suggest arthritis. Incidentally, I lost my little brother about 10 days ago to something called Granuocytic Sarcoma Extra Medullary Acute Leukemia. I can't find anything about this disease with ALL of those words in the same subject line. J PS MIke, sorry for hopping on here but she's got a "wide post" and Organization talkaboutsupport.com in her headers and every time I reply to one of those posts, it royally messes up my post, so I'm replying overtop of yours. It would seem to me from what the other similar poster explained that by registering on that web page, somehow that Organization name gets inserted into their newsreader settings and the line length might somehow also get changed by that web page to suit their purposes, so in order to post properly here, they'd have to go back into their newsreader settings and change them back to between 60 and no more than 80 characters per line, and remove that organization name. I'm not concerned about it yet, but I'm curious to know if that is consistant with some types of cancer ot the early stages. I'll have the X-rays in a afew days, I hope I am worried about nothing! Hello K, I don't think that bone cancer is consistent with weight loss. Just pain alone (while lying down) can really affect sleep and appetite. Perhaps the loss of your brother is affecting you worse than you thought. It can take us years to get over losing a loved one. Meantime, there are possibly 100's of types of arthritis and other reasons for knee pain (ligament, cysts, tendonitis etc). Meantime, try changing your sleeping position because I just read at Medline that sometimes knee pain can come from the hip area. Perhaps another place that needs to be x-rayed? I do not know if your brother's type of cancer can be "familial" (occur frequently in other members of the family, nor am sure how to search that out).. So in some ways, you have a right to be worried. So hang in there and think positive thoughts. Your doctor will help you sort it out. Please keep in touch and do let us know. J Yes, my new doctor (I moved recently). He just looked at both knees and gave me several samples of pain medication, telling me I probably have arthritis. I don't want to take meds if I don't have to, especially since I don't know what's wrong yet. After I argued, he referred me for X-rays, and I'm waiting for the results now. From what I've read, people my age don't get bone cancer often, mostly synovial. If you are concerned about panadol or anti-inflammatories for arthritis it is totally pointless you going anywhere near the cancer question. Try heat packs and rest. Makes sense to me, to hold off an anti-inflmmatories until after her test. J I hope you are right, Mike. However, heat does not work and it usually only hurts when I rest. Besides, I have broken bones before, so isn't it more likely I would have arthritis in those places, instead?
