I had a granuloma on my right vocal cord, the first time its was surgically
removed it returned within two months, the second time, the MD said he
injected steriods it now has been one and a half months and has not
returned. However on a follow up exam, we noticed another granuloma on the
left vocal cord exactly opposite where the original granuloma used to be.
My question is can granulomas spread or move? Can they become cancerous?
Thanks......

Hello Edgar,
I have seen some posts about (thought to be) benign granulomas in the lung.
I'm not a doctor but I searched the NCI dictionary and granuloma is not listed
there.
This is a random internet find (but University of Pittsburg Vocal Cord
something or other)
http://www.upmc.edu/upmcvoice/voicelibrary/Granuloma.pdf
and it says it's benign and "rarely cancer".
Some causes are mentioned there and treatments or prevention.
Your best bet is to see your MD and/or maybe ask a nose and throat specialist.
If you have some concerns (about cancer), maybe ask them for a needle biopsy or
removal and pathology report?
Why? because I don't know if it's safe to assume that what happened on one side
is the same as the other side.
Sorry I can't help more.
J - not a doctor.
