I just finished reading a great book by a cancer survivor. Is it
appropriate to recommend such here? Thanks.

Joe,

I would say if there's some of what I've copied from the Charter and
pasted below, it's best not.

The problem might be that not all cancer patients can recognize, for
instance, an "unproven diagnostic technique"..
For instance, we've had Martin H posting here and self-diagnosing
himself as cured, based on faulty reasoning. (who wanted books on his
"reading list" added to our FAQ.

Here's another for instance, someone who went through conventional
therapy, then "unproven therapy", but is claiming their remission is due
to the latter...
etc etc.

So I'll have to leave it up to your good judgement, as to the content of
the book.
I assume if Steph or Mike (or others) see problems with it (have read or
heard about it), they'll comment. (but you won't get flamed or banned,
ok?)

Thanks for asking.
J

Encouraging patients to stop or avoid conventional proven cancer
treatment in favor of unconventional and unproven treatment is
inappropriate.

Encouraging patients to accept the use of unproven diagnostic techniques
including, but not limited to self-diagnosis, diagnosis by
questionnaire, diagnosis by fraudulent machines is inappropriate.

Advocating treatments that have been disproven scientifically or have
not successfully completed all phases of a clinical trial is
inappropriate.

The book is not about drugs, homeopathy or even accepted medical
treatment. It's about how to have quality of life after cancer. But it
IS written from a Christian perspective. I would not want to offend
others here who are non-religious or of other faith systems. The book
helped me a lot.

Thanks.

Joe.

Hi, Joe...you already had a welcoming committee but I'd like to welcome you as
well.  That's very kind of you to offer a recommendation of a book that you
found helpful.  I think that as long as you indicate that it is from a
Christian perspective, you should not "offend" anyone who might not come from
the same place.

We're all addressing this disease from our own angles and help, from whatever
corner, is appreciated.

Take care.

It's very thoughtful of you to suggest a book for anyone who may find
strength in its readings.  It could help alot of people who are looking for
hope and strength at a very tough time in their lives.  Thank-you
Salisha
