I post sporadically, but I will not be able to post for awhile as we are
moving to be nearer to my sister with Leukemia.  She is on day 19 after the
stem cell transplant.  Still feels very sick.  TPN was stopped yesterday, to
be given to her prn now.  Her mucositis is diminishing, thank Heaven, but
she still can't eat easily, and still croaks out a wee voice.  The good part
is that her new cells have fully engrafted and she is producing her own red
and white cells and platelets.
I appreciate the support I have received from this list more than I can say.
Thanks especially to J.

That's wonderful news (about the engraftment and bloodwork), Jackie.
I'm sure your sister will appreciate having you nearby.
My thoughts will be with you and sending healing vibes for your sister.
Best wishes and take care of you too. It's been a tough year.

Hi! I am doing the Hike for Discovery to raise funds for the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society.  We train and fundraise for several months and
then hike in the Grand Canyon next month. My goal is $3700 and I am
half way there!  The LLS has many programs to help patients and their
familis and to support crucial research.  If you would like to find out
more about the Society, and possibly donate, please click on  (or copy
and paste into your browser):

We are going to the Grand Canyon soon, and I would love to hike for
anyone whose memory or recovery you would like me to.   Thank you so
much for your support and encouragement, and the same to you!

Bless you, Jackie and y'all keep the faith.  My biggest supporter when
I was diagnosed with breast cancer, then adrenal cancer this spring
is a 20 year survivor of Leukemia.  If you can imagine what chemo
might have been like 20 years ago, then you have an idea how strong
(and fortunate) she is.  It's great you are able to be with your sister.
Do nice little things for her.  She will appreciate them.  My buddy
called me several times a week, sent me very funny get well cards
weekly and basically gave me pep talks.  The best thing was the
week after my 1st surgery when she thought I'd be starting chemo
soon I received a bubble blower bottle in the mail.  In the
accompanying card she told me about her flight to the Mayo Clinic
when someone pointed out to her that the rainbow visible through
her portal was proof that God loved her.  She said I could make
my own rainbow anytime I needed one.  There's been several
times since I could be seen on my patio wildly slinging bubbles.
My cat thinks I'm nuts and is afraid of the bubbles.
